Marvel Studios has plenty of projects of interest to be released in the upcoming years, one of them is certainly an animated show focusing on young Spider-Man, ”Your Friendly Neighborhood Spider-Man.’

The show was announced for Disney+ back on November 12, 2021, with Jeff Trammell as the writer and executive producer. At San Diego Comic-Con 2022, it was revealed that the show would premiere in 2024, alongside news of a sequel series, ‘Spider-Man: Sophomore Year.’ Japanese animation studio Polygon Pictures was announced to produce the series on July 14, 2023, using cutting-edge CG technology. The premiere date was confirmed for November 2, 2024.

Liza Singer who served as episodic director for the show now announced on X that she is returning to the studio once again as episodic director.

Liza however couldn’t disclose which project she is currently working on, claiming that fans should wait for the press release. With the success of ‘What…If?,’ we know that Marvel Studios started the development of a whole slate of animated projects that are bound to be part of Marvel Animated Multiverse. Starting with a massively successful show like ‘X-Men ’97,’ ‘Marvel Zombies,’ ‘Eyes of Wakanda,’ and anime-inspired project revolving around cosmic beings.

It’s not surprising that Marvel Studios is slowly but surely shifting its focus to animated content, as so far, those shows have been well-received and they are significantly cheaper to produce when compared to live-action movies, that in recent times, aren’t as successful. That the studio is slowly shifting its focus to animation was a primary rumor a while back when Iger announced that the studio will focus more on quality over quantity.

There are also rumors of resurrecting older shows. ‘X-Men: The Animated Series’ was already successfully brought back, and some speculations point in the direction of the Spider-Man animated show being revived as well, so it’s possible that this is the project that Liza is currently working on, given her experience with adapting Spider-Man to animation.
