Disney Exec Speaks Out on Axed ‘Bachelorette’ Season — Will Taylor Frankie Paul’s Run Ever Air?
A top Disney executive has now spoken about the fate of Taylor Frankie Paul’s canceled season of “The Bachelorette,” and it sounds like even the network still doesn’t have a clear answer.
Speaking at Deadline’s Reality TV Summit, ABC reality chief Rob Mills addressed the situation months after the season was pulled just days before its planned premiere. According to Mills, the future of that unaired footage is still uncertain. He admitted, “It’s a good question,” when asked if the season will ever be released. He also added, “It’s still day-to-day, so we’ll see.”
Mills made it clear that the company’s focus right now is not on airing the show, but on Paul herself. He said, “On a personal level … we want to make sure she’s OK.”
The season was canceled back in March after a video surfaced showing an alleged domestic violence incident involving Paul and her ex-boyfriend Dakota Mortensen. At the time, ABC released a statement to Entertainment Weekly explaining the decision, saying, “In light of the newly released video just surfaced today, we have made the decision to not move forward with the new season of The Bachelorette at this time, and our focus is on supporting the family.”
Since then, the situation between Paul and Mortensen has continued to play out in court. Both have accused each other of violence, and the legal dispute also involves custody arrangements for their young son.
During a recent court hearing, a commissioner described their relationship as “very toxic” and recommended that both sides follow protective orders for several years. The court also urged them to work toward co-parenting in a more stable way.
For now, the future of Paul’s “Bachelorette” season remains unclear, with Disney leaving the door open but not making any promises about whether it will ever be seen.
