Margaret Qualley’s Sweeping New Romance ‘Love Of Your Life’ Gets Its First Trailer

That director is Rachel Morrison, best known for her groundbreaking cinematography work on films like ‘Mudbound’ and ‘Black Panther’ before stepping behind the camera herself with 2024’s ‘The Fire Inside.’ Her sophomore feature reunites her with Amazon MGM Studios for a romantic drama that’s already generating buzz ahead of its festival debut.

That film, ‘Love of Your Life,’ has just gotten its first official trailer, giving audiences their initial look at Qualley’s performance as Maya, a young woman whose life takes an unexpected turn after a chance encounter sparks a sweeping romance. The film is set for its world premiere in TIFF’s Special Presentations program on September 13 before expanding to a wider release.

Maya’s chance meeting with Charlie, played by ‘The Night Agent’ breakout Gabriel Basso, quickly develops into a whirlwind relationship and a future she never expected for herself. When that future is suddenly upended, Maya finds herself hurtling toward an entirely different life, one that forces her to reckon with who she is, what she actually wants, and whether she’s capable of opening herself up to love again.

The film’s screenplay comes from writer Julia Cox, marking Morrison’s second collaboration with Amazon MGM Studios after her feature directorial debut. Ryan Gosling and Jessie Henderson serve as producers on the project, adding another layer of star power behind the scenes.

Alongside Qualley and Basso, the film features a notable ensemble including Aaron Pierre, Patrick Schwarzenegger, Catherine Keener, Tamara Lawrance, and Corey Johnson. For Morrison, the film represents a continuation of the momentum she built with ‘The Fire Inside,’ which premiered at TIFF back in 2024 to a mixed but generally positive reception. Following its TIFF premiere, ‘Love of Your Life’ opens in select theaters on October 7 before streaming globally on Prime Video starting October 14.
