Doctor Aphra Returns in New Star Wars Comic Series
Doctor Aphra is back for more action in a brand-new ongoing comic series! Marvel has announced Star Wars: Doctor Aphra – Chaos Agent, which will debut this June. Written by Cherish Chen (Radiant Red) and illustrated by Gabriel Guzman, this new story will take place after Return of the Jedi in the era of the New Republic.
This is the second new Star Wars comic series set in this time period, following Star Wars (2025) by Alex Segura and Phil Noto, which arrives in May.
The Doctor Aphra comics have been a fan favorite since the character’s introduction in Darth Vader (2015) by Kieron Gillen and Salvador Larroca. Aphra quickly became a beloved rogue archaeologist known for her clever schemes and morally gray choices.
In Chaos Agent, Aphra will navigate a changing galaxy after the Battle of Jakku. With her past crimes forgiven, she receives an unexpected mission from Luke Skywalker himself. He wants her to use her treasure, and hunting expertise to help the New Republic find a rare artifact.
But as always, things won’t go smoothly for Aphra—especially when her tattoos, which have played a crucial role in past adventures, stop working.
Writer Cherish Chen is excited to bring Aphra into this new chapter. “In my humble opinion, there isn’t a more fun character to be writing in the Star Wars galaxy than the one and only Doctor Aphra,” Chen said. “Cooking up new adventures for her in this new era, throwing her into increasingly tricky moral quandaries, and testing her resolve (alongside some familiar faces) has truly been like playing in the ultimate sandbox.“
Star Wars: Doctor Aphra – Chaos Agent #1 arrives on June 18, featuring cover art by E.J. Su and variant covers by Sara Pichelli and Karen S. Darboe.
