Donny Cates, Knull Creator Says He Has Been in Contact With Sony and Praises the Movie: “That’s how you treat a king”
A few days ago the first trailer for ‘Venom: The Last Dance’ was released and it showcased something that most fans did not expect – the first look at Knull the King Black. Naturally, seeing Knull in a Sony movie fans were skeptical due to Sony’s poor track record of treating Marvel characters and the majority of past SSU movies flopping.
Then the creators of Knull Donny Cates and Ryan Stegman came to social media to voice the fact that they had no idea that Sony would be using Knull in the final ‘Venom’ movie, and that they will be asking for compensation. Well, Stegman claimed as much Cates just posted a humorous image of an inverted Venom logo that reads “money.”
While fans do truly have a reason to be afraid, what with all the lack of build-up for the character and the lack of proper enemies for the villain to fight, there’s also the fact that Sony did not consult the original creators when creating him for live-action. Unfortunately, the previous two ‘Venom’ movies also weren’t that well executed, the movies were successful but they weren’t good per se.
In any case, more than 24 hours after posting “money” on social media Cates stated that he had been talking with Sony and has read the script for the upcoming movie. He stated that it’s bigger and better than anything that the fans can imagine and is apparently very pleased with the portrayal of Knull.
Fans had positive and (humorous) reactions to this news:
