A new expansion for “DOOM: The Dark Ages” has been officially revealed. The expansion, titled “Revelations,” is set to launch on July 7 and continues the brutal story of the DOOM Slayer in a darker and more psychological direction.

In this new chapter, the Slayer is no longer just fighting demons on the battlefield. Instead, he is trapped in a harsh and twisted purgatory. Wounded and betrayed, he must face disturbing truths about himself while searching for a way out. The story focuses on survival, inner struggle, and a final battle against a powerful god-like enemy.

According to the official description, “Wounded and betrayed, the Slayer is thrust into a merciless purgatory only escapable by confronting haunting truths and forging new strength with the help of a mysterious ally.” This sets the tone for a more story-focused expansion while still keeping the series’ intense combat style.

The expansion introduces new environments and levels that mix traditional DOOM combat with more complex design. Players will face new demons and discover new secrets as they move through the campaign. The gameplay also expands with new puzzle elements, adding variety to the fast-paced action.

One of the biggest additions is a new weapon called the Chain Spear. This weapon changes how combat flows, allowing players to attack enemies from different ranges while staying highly mobile. It is designed to reward skilled players who can combine movement and timing during fights.

The official description highlights this new system, stating that it offers “a uniquely satisfying combat system that rewards mastery with a potent combination of power and mobility.” This suggests that combat will still feel fast and aggressive, but with more tactical depth than before.

Alongside the expansion, a free update called Ripatorium 3.0 will also launch on July 7. This update improves the game’s arena mode with better customization options, new presets, and improved pass code systems. Players who own the “Revelations” expansion will also receive additional bonus content, including new maps, demons, and upgraded weapons for the arena mode.

Players who purchase the Premium Edition or Collector’s Bundle will get access to the expansion at no extra cost. Others will be able to buy it separately as downloadable content for $19.99, or upgrade to the Premium Edition.

“DOOM: The Dark Ages” continues to be available on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X and Series S, PC through Steam and Battle.net, and Xbox platforms. It is also included in Game Pass, allowing subscribers to play without an additional purchase.

The expansion builds on the foundation of the main game while expanding both story and gameplay systems. It focuses on a darker tone, new combat tools, and more varied level design. With its mix of story-driven progression and intense action, “Revelations” aims to push the DOOM experience in a new direction while still keeping the core identity of the franchise intact.

More updates and gameplay details are expected closer to launch as players prepare to return to the world of “DOOM: The Dark Ages.”
