‘South Park’ Just Aired Real ‘Grand Theft Auto VI’ Gameplay, and It Involves Dog Poop on a Vice City Beach
‘South Park‘ has never been shy about picking on the biggest names in pop culture, but this week it found a new way to do it. The long-running animated series spent months teasing Rockstar’s upcoming open-world blockbuster, and then it went further than anyone expected. The ‘GTA 6’ gameplay that turned up in a cartoon episode is already one of the stranger marketing moments of the year.
The show’s current season has been rebranded as ‘South America’, and ‘GTA 6‘ has been a running gag since the premiere on September 16. The characters kept insisting that things would get better in November, a joke that points straight at the game’s launch. Another episode on September 30 played with worries that a power outage could stop players from saving their progress.
On Wednesday night, the fourth episode of the season, “Guinea Pig on a Stick,” aired on Comedy Central. It follows the gang to a local cattle ranch, where they get a sneak peek at the video game. In the scene, Cartman, Kyle, Stan and Randy sit around a table while an insider shows off gameplay on a television.
The clip is real. It runs about 17 seconds and opens with Jason and Lucia walking along a crowded beach, then cuts to a cinematic shot of a dog taking a dump. It then switches to third-person gameplay with Jason, a minimap visible in the corner.

The joke is the mechanic. The narrator explains that beachgoers can bag their dog’s mess, and that players can pick up the bag and throw it at an NPC. In the footage, Jason does exactly that, and when the victim gets angry, he repeats the attack.
Rockstar previously confirmed that players can throw dog poop at NPCs, but this is the first time anyone has seen the mechanic in action. The footage is also a technical showcase, with crowds of NPCs with varied body shapes, character reactions and footprints in the sand.
At first, some viewers wondered whether the clip was authentic. The credits settled it, with a line reading “Grand Theft Auto VI footage courtesy of Rockstar Games, Inc.” The level of detail also matched the official trailers.
Until now, Rockstar has shown gameplay through YouTube videos and, in one case, a Netflix Extended Look. Showing it first in a ‘South Park’ episode is a very different choice.

This isn’t the first time the show has worked with a developer. In the November 2025 episode “Turkey Trot,” ‘ARC Raiders’ appeared on screen, and the studio said the collaboration came together in a matter of days. Back in 2006, the episode “Make Love, Not Warcraft” had Blizzard employees help film scenes inside ‘World of Warcraft’.
The latest example fits the show’s habit of turning real games into satire. It also fits the tone of the episode itself, which takes aim at beef prices, inflation and elite food trends, and gives viewers a sneak peek at the biggest game of the year as a cheeky aside.

The timing is hard to ignore. ‘Grand Theft Auto VI’ arrives on November 19 for PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S, the first game in the series since 2013. It was originally expected in 2025, slipped to May 2026 and then moved to November.
Fans online called the move genius marketing, and it comes right as Rockstar has been releasing a dozen new screenshots and details about the size of the map. With under a month to go, the studio appears to be stepping up its promotion in unusual ways.
