Ed Harris, one of the most renowned actors in Hollywood, is reportedly joining the Marvel Cinematic Universe in the upcoming Disney+ series Wonder Man. The news was revealed by Jeff Sneider, an industry insider, who reported that Harris had been cast as Neal Saroyan, the Hollywood agent of Simon Williams, the lead character in the show.

Wonder Man is a Hollywood satire that will see Williams start as an actor before becoming a superhero. Set in Tinseltown, the show’s premise is expected to provide commentary on the entertainment industry. Saroyan, who is often used in Marvel comics as a tool to facilitate satire and commentary on Hollywood, is expected to play a significant role in the series.

Sneider has hinted that Harris’ character could be a villain in the new show. In the comics, Saroyan is portrayed as a somewhat villainous character driven by publicity, who has even sent dangerous villains after Wonder Man to gain attention. If Harris does indeed play a villainous role in the show, it will be a significant departure from his previous roles in movies such as The Truman Show, Apollo 13, and Top Gun: Maverick.

Wonder Man is set to be directed by Destin Daniel Cretton, who previously directed Shang-Chi and Avengers: The Kang Dynasty. Yahya Abdul-Marteen II will play the titular role of Wonder Man, and Sir Ben Kingsley’s Trevor Slattery, a familiar face from the MCU, is also set to appear. Other rumored cast members include Werner Herzog and Lauren Glazier.

Filming for Wonder Man was reportedly set to begin in late March, and a Fear the Walking Dead star has already been cast as the Grim Reaper. Despite the recent casting news, it’s unclear when the show will be released on Disney+. The MCU has reduced its annual Disney+ output, which means some of the upcoming shows may not be released until 2025. As a result, fans will have to wait to see Harris’ MCU debut.

Ed Harris’ addition to the MCU has caused a stir among fans, who are eager to see what the veteran actor will bring to the franchise. With Cretton at the helm and an all-star cast in place, Wonder Man is shaping up to be one of the most anticipated shows on Disney+.
