Elizabeth Olsen says she’s not done with the Marvel world just yet. The actress, who became a fan favorite as Wanda Maximoff, better known as Scarlet Witch, shared that she would be happy to return to the role that made her a household name.

Speaking during a Q&A session at the 2025 Hamptons International Film Festival, Olsen reflected on her time in the Marvel Cinematic Universe and said she still feels connected to her character.

“It is something that I love, and it’s something I always want to return to,” Olsen said at the event in Sag Harbor Cinema.

“I think the thing that’s been so special about the last five years is I’ve gotten to do so much with the character that I never thought I would. There are still character through lines that have happened in the comics that I’d love to do that I think fans also want to.”

Olsen first appeared as Wanda Maximoff in Avengers: Age of Ultron and went on to lead the Disney+ series WandaVision, earning an Emmy nomination for her performance.

Her story took a dark turn in Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness, where Wanda became the main antagonist, consumed by grief and the power of the Darkhold. Though the film ended with her apparent death, many fans believe her story is far from over, and Olsen seems to agree.

When asked about the mixed reactions to superhero films and the growing sense of “superhero fatigue,” Olsen shared a grounded view.

“Some people have ongoing television series that they get to return to. Very few, I feel like, get to be a part of franchises that, I know we might culturally get a little bit exhausted by, but there is something about them that becomes very familial,” she explained.

She also acknowledged the unique bond that comes with being part of the Marvel family. “There’s nothing else really like it, and I don’t know that I’ll have [that] again unless it’s for an ongoing show,” she said. “I do like that kind of consistency. It feels good. I mean, job security feels nice — I think we can all agree on that.”

Olsen mentioned that when she first joined Marvel, she was both nervous and grateful. More than ten years later, she remains proud of the work she’s done and the emotional depth she brought to the Scarlet Witch. “It’s really fruitful, and the stories have only gotten better for me, my character. I really enjoyed it,” she added.

Kevin Feige, head of Marvel Studios, has previously hinted that Wanda’s story isn’t over, keeping fans hopeful that Olsen will return in future MCU projects. Given Olsen’s openness to reprise her role, her comeback seems more possible than ever.

It’s great to see Elizabeth Olsen so passionate about returning as Scarlet Witch. She’s given one of the most emotional and layered performances in the MCU, and it feels like Wanda’s story still has chapters left to tell. What about you?
