Élodie Yung Drops Update on Elektra in ‘Daredevil: Born Again’ Season 3
Marvel’s Netflix era characters have been quietly making their way back into the fold all year, but few returns have carried as much emotional weight for longtime fans as this one. ‘Daredevil Born Again‘ has spent its first two seasons rebuilding Hell’s Kitchen for a new generation of viewers, and Season 3 has turned into something closer to a full family reunion for the old guard.
Production on the season has been underway since March, with cast sightings trickling out through set photos and paparazzi shots for months as Marvel kept official confirmation firmly off the table. That steady drip of leaked footage reached a natural conclusion this week, with signs suggesting Elodie Yung has now wrapped her scenes as Elektra Natchios for the season.
Yung was first spotted filming in costume back on June 23 in Dumbo, Brooklyn, confirming her long rumored return to the role after nearly a decade away from the character. Her comeback ends years of uncertainty for fans, since Elektra was last seen presumably dying alongside Matt Murdock when a building collapsed on top of them during the climactic battle in ‘The Defenders.’
The character’s updated costume has become its own point of fascination since those first sightings, blending the grounded, tactical style of the Netflix era with a noticeably more comic accurate silhouette, featuring more red than her previous suit along with her signature bandana. Fans online reacted immediately to the redesign, with many noting how closely the look echoes Elektra’s classic comic book appearances rather than simply recycling her old Marvel Television costume.

Yung’s return joins an increasingly stacked lineup of Netflix veterans making their way back for Season 3, including Krysten Ritter’s Jessica Jones, Mike Colter’s Luke Cage, and Finn Jones’s Danny Rand, giving the season what may be the most complete gathering of the old Defenders cast assembled in a single stretch of episodes. Charlie Cox and Yung were even captured on set together in costume as Daredevil and Elektra earlier this month, marking their first confirmed scene together since her comeback was first revealed.

Much of the intrigue heading into Season 3 stems from where the story picks up. The Season 2 finale ended with Matt revealing to the world that he is the Devil of Hell’s Kitchen, landing him behind bars, and reports suggest the season draws inspiration from the comic storyline “The Devil in Cell Block D,” which finds Murdock surviving prison life surrounded by his own enemies. With Matt sidelined for at least part of the season, speculation has grown that Elektra could step into the void he leaves behind, protecting the city, a role she has occasionally filled in the source material as well.
An insider report has also suggested Season 3 will include a fight sequence between Elektra and Bullseye, adding another layer of tension to a season that already has Vincent D’Onofrio’s Wilson Fisk positioned as more dangerous than ever, according to the actor himself. Filming is reported to be wrapping around early July, putting Yung’s apparent completion of her scenes right in line with the broader production schedule for the season.
Marvel has yet to officially confirm any of these casting reveals, leaving fans to piece together the full picture entirely through set photos, leaked footage, and cast sightings rather than a formal studio announcement. Given how the studio has handled similar reveals throughout the season, an official confirmation may not arrive until much closer to the show’s expected 2027 premiere on Disney+.
How excited are you about Elektra’s return in Born Again?
For a character whose live-action legacy has always felt underserved compared to her standing in the comics, this Season 3 return finally looks like the meaningful showcase longtime fans have been waiting for since 2017. Whether Elektra ends up as ally, rival, or something more complicated to Matt Murdock, her presence alone signals just how ambitious this season is shaping up to be.
