‘Euphoria’ Star Addresses Claims About Sam Levinson’s Set and Why Some Actors Don’t Like Working With Him
Chloe Cherry, who joined “Euphoria” in later seasons and became known for her role in the series, has shared her thoughts on what it is like working with Sam Levinson. In her interview with Glamour, she spoke openly about both the positive and negative perceptions people have about him on set.
She said she personally enjoys working with him, even if others do not always feel the same way. She explained, “I love working for Sam Levinson so much,” while also adding that “a lot of people don’t” share that same opinion.
Cherry suggested that part of the tension comes from Levinson’s directing style. She described him as very detailed and very specific about how he wants everything to look and feel. According to her, this includes costumes, dialogue, and even small performance choices.
She said, “I think it’s because he is so specific about how everything needs to be. And there’s some people that I guess just don’t like how he’s so specific with how he imagines everything in the show.”
She also said that Levinson can change his mind quickly on set, which can be challenging for some actors but interesting for others. She explained that while she finds it exciting, not everyone working on a production would feel comfortable with that level of constant adjustment.
She added, “I love how he can randomly change his mind and be so sure of everything that the characters wear and say, but I think some actors could find that to be too much.”
Her comments come at a time when “Euphoria” has faced ongoing discussion about its behind-the-scenes environment. Over the past few years, there have been several reports and rumors about tension during production, although not all of them have been officially confirmed by those involved.
One of the most widely discussed situations involved actor Barbie Ferreira, who left the series ahead of its third season. At the time, she said her departure was a mutual decision, but online speculation suggested there had been creative disagreements during filming.
There have also been separate reports about creative differences between Levinson and some cast members, including claims about disagreements over story direction and character development. These reports have circulated in entertainment media but have not always been confirmed by the people involved.

Another topic that has been discussed in industry coverage is Levinson’s control over the show’s creative process. Some reports describe him as very hands-on with writing and directing, often shaping scenes closely during production. Supporters of his style say it helps maintain a strong creative vision, while critics argue it can create tension on set.
More recently, entertainment reporting has also pointed to speculation about relationships among key figures involved in the series, including claims of tension between Levinson and lead actor Zendaya. These claims have not been publicly confirmed by either party, and both sides have generally avoided commenting on the rumors.
Despite the discussion around production conditions, Cherry used her interview to defend some of the creative choices in the show. She also responded to criticism of how “Euphoria” portrays young women, saying she believes the series is trying to reflect society rather than blame its characters.
She said she sees Levinson’s work as a commentary on how young women are viewed today, rather than a message about the characters themselves. In her view, the show is trying to show uncomfortable realities instead of glamorizing them.
Cherry also mentioned her own background before joining the show, noting that she came from adult entertainment and had appeared in a parody version of “Euphoria” before being cast in the real series. She said this experience gave her a different perspective on the show’s themes and how it portrays sexuality and modeling.
As “Euphoria” continues to develop future, discussions about its production style and creative leadership remain part of the wider conversation around the series.
