The brat prince has officially claimed the spotlight. ‘The Vampire Lestat,’ the newly rebranded third season of AMC’s gothic drama ‘Interview with the Vampire,’ is premiering on June 7, 2026, and its ensemble is shaping up to be the most ambitious yet. The series keeps going under showrunner Rolin Jones, continuing its adaptation of Anne Rice’s Vampire Chronicles, with Season 3 widely seen as the most radical shift in the series.

Instead of Louis narrating that tragic romance with Lestat, the vampire takes the steering wheel after feeling misrepresented in Daniel Molloy’s published book. And the way Lestat chooses to fight back is exactly as theatrical as you’d expect. Resentful of what he sees as a perfunctory portrayal in a trashy bestseller, the Vampire Lestat sets his story straight by starting a band and going on tour.

The Returning ‘Interview with the Vampire’ Cast Comes Back Swinging

The core ensemble that made the show’s first two seasons so compelling returns in full force. Sam Reid leads as Lestat de Lioncourt, with Jacob Anderson as Louis de Pointe du Lac, Assad Zaman as Armand, and Eric Bogosian as Daniel Molloy all confirmed to return.

Louis was last seen reuniting with Lestat after learning of his lover Armand’s betrayal, while Armand was recently exposed as the director of the production that ended with Claudia’s death. These unresolved threads guarantee that the tension between returning characters will be far from simple. At San Diego Comic-Con, AMC also confirmed the return of Delainey Hayles as Claudia.

Bogosian’s Daniel Molloy also made a cameo appearance in the series premiere of ‘Talamasca: The Secret Order,’ the third installment in Anne Rice’s Immortal Universe on AMC, signaling that this fictional world is expanding in exciting directions beyond a single show.

New Cast Members and Guest Stars Who Are Raising the Stakes

The wave of new additions is genuinely staggering in scope and caliber. Jennifer Ehle joins as Gabriella, Lestat’s mother, with her name curiously changed from the book’s original “Gabrielle.” Christopher Heyerdahl steps in as the ancient vampire Marius, Damien Atkins plays Lestat’s maker Magnus, Ella Ballentine takes on the role of groupie Baby Jenks, and Jeanine Serralles plays Lestat’s lawyer Christine Claire.

TV Insider exclusively announced the casting of Amaka Umeh, who plays Dee Pharma, one of Lestat’s entourage. Creator Rolin Jones described the character by saying, “Depending on who you ask, she’s either his social media coordinator or his pharmaceutically enhanced blood source.” That line alone tells you everything about the tone this season is going for.

Singer Moses Sumney also appears in the trailer, though AMC has not confirmed who he is playing. Based on his nails and contact lenses visible in promotional footage, it is clear he is playing a vampire, making him one of the season’s most intriguing mysteries headed into the premiere.

Sheila Atim as Akasha, Queen of the Damned

No casting announcement generated more conversation than the confirmation of Sheila Atim in the role that fans of Rice’s mythology had been waiting for. Atim will step into the role of Akasha, the first vampire and often referred to as the Mother of All Vampires, who bestows Lestat with many of his gifts.

Atim, known for ‘The Woman King’ and ‘The Underground Railroad,’ will play Akasha, often referred to as “The Great Mother,” whose bloodline connects every immortal, including Lestat himself. Her arrival was carefully seeded in the previous season. She was name-dropped at the end of Season 2 when Lestat told Armand, “I have the blood of Akasha in me,” teasing her eventual arrival.

There’s still no sign of Atim as Akasha in the official trailer, and the production is undoubtedly keeping her debut a secret until further notice, which has only amplified speculation and excitement among fans of Anne Rice’s mythology online.

Lestat’s Band and the Rock Tour Guest Stars

One of the most inventive additions to the show’s mythology this season is the introduction of Lestat’s actual bandmates as full supporting characters. Noah Reid of ‘Schitt’s Creek’ plays Larry, Ryan Kattner of ‘Destroy All Neighbors’ plays Salamander, Seamus Patterson of ‘Guillermo del Toro’s Cabinet of Curiosities’ plays Alex, and Sarah Swire of ‘The Boys’ plays TC.

TC is an abbreviation for Tough Cookie, the name of one of Lestat’s bandmates from Anne Rice’s original novel, which shows how closely the creative team is honoring the source material even while radically reinventing the show’s format and tone. Showrunner Jones shared that there are at least 16 songs from composer Daniel Hart for the musical season and that Lestat’s tour will have 50 stops, with Season 3 picking up around stop 33 on that tour.

AMC released opening titles for the upcoming season featuring the single “All Fall Down,” the second official rock single following the series’ first one, “Long Face,” with composer Daniel Hart providing the music and lyrics and Sam Reid performing the song.

A Universe That Keeps Expanding

What makes this cast so compelling is not just the star power but the narrative ambition it signals. With the inclusion of characters such as Akasha and Baby Jenks, the show is already starting to bring in plot threads from the next book in the series, ‘Queen of the Damned.’

Writer and executive producer Hannah Moscovitch also confirmed at New York Comic Con that the creative team is pulling from book six, ‘The Vampire Armand,’ this season as well, meaning viewers should expect the story to stretch in directions far beyond a simple page-to-screen adaptation.

The season will consist of seven episodes, airing on Sunday nights, with the finale scheduled for July 19, 2026. With the rock concert format, a sprawling ensemble of new and returning faces, and a mythology that is deliberately bleeding across multiple books at once, ‘The Vampire Lestat’ is positioned as the most ambitious chapter of this series to date.

Whether Sheila Atim’s Akasha or Moses Sumney’s mystery vampire ends up being the breakout of the season remains to be seen, but with a cast this loaded, the question is really which newcomer you’re most excited to watch take the stage alongside Sam Reid.
