Brad Pitt is facing an unusual legal dispute after a skincare company known for a male-focused product line filed a lawsuit against his brand, according to reporting from AirMail.

The company, Beau D., claims Pitt’s skincare line, Beau Domaine, is too similar to its own name and is accusing the actor’s business of unfair competition and false designation of origin under California business law. The dispute centers around branding that both sides say could confuse customers.

Beau D. launched in 2020 and sells luxury grooming products, including a lip salve and a product it calls “D. Cream,” which the company openly markets in a provocative way. Pitt’s skincare brand, on the other hand, entered the market in 2022 and was developed in partnership with a French winemaking family. The brand uses grape-based ingredients from varieties like Grenache, Syrah, and Mourvèdre, and promotes itself as a high-end anti-aging skincare line.

Pitt’s brand was originally launched under the name Le Domaine before being renamed Beau Domaine in 2024, a change that now sits at the center of the legal complaint. Beau D. argues that the updated name is too close to its own identity and claims it attempted private settlement talks several times before deciding to file a lawsuit.

According to AirMail, the company is seeking more than $75,000 in damages and wants Pitt’s skincare line to stop using the Beau Domaine name altogether. The lawsuit also argues that the similarity in branding could mislead customers, even though both companies operate in very different parts of the skincare market.

The founder of Beau D., Brandon Palas, described his company’s product in bold terms when speaking to AirMail. He said, “It will help to bring plumpness to that skin, inspire collagen production, and slow down the process of aging.” The brand has also leaned heavily into edgy marketing, including descriptions and branding that have drawn attention online.

Pitt’s skincare line is linked to his broader business interests in France, including his ownership stake in Château Miraval, a vineyard that has also been part of ongoing legal disputes in his personal life. Beau Domaine itself is marketed as a luxury wellness brand that combines skincare science with vineyard-based ingredients.

So far, representatives for Brad Pitt have not publicly commented on the lawsuit, according to AirMail. Legal experts consulted in the report suggested the case may not be straightforward, especially given the differences in product focus and branding context between the two companies.

Still, Beau D. is pushing ahead with its claim, arguing that name similarity and brand overlap justify legal action. Whether the court agrees will likely depend on how closely the branding is judged to overlap in the eyes of consumers.

For now, the case adds another unexpected twist to Brad Pitt’s business ventures, this time in a dispute that is as unusual as it is headline-grabbing.
