A new Family Guy and Star Wars crossover has quietly dropped online, bringing Stewie and Grogu together in a short animated video.

The clip is already getting attention because it marks a rare return to the galaxy far, far away for the long-running animated comedy.

The new crossover is being described as a small but notable moment for fans, especially since Family Guy has not done a major Star Wars parody in years. The last big connection between the two came in 2010, when the show released a full trilogy of special episodes parodying the original Star Wars films.

Those earlier specials covered A New Hope, The Empire Strikes Back, and Return of the Jedi. They became some of the most well-known episodes in Family Guy history, with jokes that referenced earlier Star Wars gags already made in the series. One of the most memorable titles from that run was “Something, Something, Something Dark Side.”

Fans of both franchises responded strongly to those specials when they first aired. However, after that trilogy, the show did not continue with further Star Wars parodies. Even jokes about the prequel trilogy were avoided in later episodes, something that was even acknowledged within the show itself.

Behind the scenes, there were also business complications at the time. Series creator Seth MacFarlane previously mentioned that working with Disney became more difficult after the company acquired Lucasfilm, which affected future crossover plans.

Since then, both franchises have continued to grow in different directions, with new films and series expanding the Star Wars universe and Family Guy continuing its long-running animated format.

The new Stewie and Grogu short is not a full parody special like before, but it still stands out as a rare moment where the two worlds come back together under the same creative umbrella. Fans are now hoping this could be a small sign of more collaborations in the future.
