Fan-Favorite Character Officially Returns in ‘Dexter: Resurrection’ Season 2
Dexter: Resurrection is bringing back another familiar face for its second season. According to Deadline, Krysten Ritter is returning to the Showtime series as a guest star after appearing in the first season. While the actress is officially back, the biggest mystery is how her character will fit into the story.
The details of Ritter’s return are being kept secret. In Season 1, she played Mia, also known as Lady Vengeance, a serial killer who worked as a sommelier during the day. Her story appeared to end after she was killed while in jail, making her comeback an unexpected surprise.
However, Dexter has never been a series that strictly follows the rules. Over the years, the franchise has repeatedly found creative ways to bring characters back or reveal shocking twists. Because of that, fans are already speculating about whether Mia will appear through flashbacks, hallucinations, or another unexpected storyline. For now, Showtime has not revealed any official details about her role.
Ritter is not the only actor returning for the new season. Deadline also reports that Uma Thurman will reprise her role as Charley after joining the series in Season 1. The upcoming season is also expanding its cast with several new faces.
Among the newcomers is Brian Cox, who has been cast as a new villain known as The New York Ripper. Dan Stevens joins the series as another serial killer called The Five Borough Killer. Bokeem Woodbine has signed on to play Captain Mixon, while Nona Parker Johnson will portray Fiona Mixon.
Season 1 followed Dexter Morgan, played by Michael C. Hall, after he survived being shot by his son Harrison. The story picked up weeks after the shocking ending of Dexter: New Blood, with Dexter waking from a coma only to discover Harrison had disappeared.
Realizing the damage he had caused, Dexter traveled to New York City in hopes of finding his son and repairing their relationship. The season introduced several dangerous new killers while continuing Dexter’s struggle to control his Dark Passenger.
At this stage, Showtime has not released an official plot description for Season 2. The studio is keeping story details tightly under wraps, leaving fans to wonder how Dexter’s journey will continue and what new threats await him.

The return of Ritter has only added to the speculation. Since her character seemingly died in Season 1, viewers are eager to learn how the writers plan to bring her back into the story. Given Dexter’s long history of surprising its audience, many believe there could be another major twist waiting to be revealed.
The series continues under the leadership of showrunner and executive producer Clyde Phillips. Michael C. Hall also returns as an executive producer alongside Scott Reynolds, Marcos Siega, Tony Hernandez, Lilly Burns, John Goldwyn, Sara Colleton, Veronica West, Kirsa Rein, Tanner Bean, and Katrina Mathewson.
Production on the second season is now underway. While fans will have to wait a little longer for a full trailer or official story details, Ritter’s return confirms that Dexter: Resurrection is not finished surprising viewers. Whether Mia is truly alive or returns in another form remains one of the biggest questions heading into the new season.
