Fans Noticed Eerie Connection Between Cavill and Corenswet & I Have To Admit I’m Buying It

With James Gunn & Peter Safran taking over DCEU and rebranding it as DCU, no one expected that just about all actors portraying the notable superheroes would be let go and their projects canceled.

Henry Cavill himself left the production of the upcoming ‘The Witcher’ season because he signed up for the upcoming ‘Man of Steel’ installment, only for it to be confirmed that the movie is not happening. Later it was clarified that he left the ‘The Witcher’ production because the writers continuously disrespected the source material.

Cavill’s fans were understandably angry, to say the least, that their favorite and most recent Man of Steel won’t be reprising his role. For the most part, Cavill is considered to be one of the few things that DCEU got right. But, Gunn was looking for a younger Superman actor, as the upcoming movie will focus on a younger Superman overall, so the only thing that made sense was to recast. Besides, it would make things extremely confusing to see Cavill in two different origin movies.

In general, David Corenswet’s casting was received well enough with negative commentaries limited to comments and social media in general, but now it seems that Cavill’s fans have noticed something…strange. There’s a theory making rounds in the last few weeks that Corenswet is Cavill’s clone. Not in the literal and scientific way, it’s just that they look incredibly similar.

It seems that everything started when Corenswet was filming a commercial in Mexico, and locals mistook him for Henry Cavill.

And even though I have to admit that they do look alike, there’s a perfectly reasonable explanation for it… they have to be similar both in build and face. As many X users pointed out, Superman has a timeless and specific look, and quite frankly most of the castings in the history of live-action portrayals had to check several boxes: reasonably tall, muscular, dark-haired, and blue-eyed (sometimes).

In any case, it’s a funny theory making rounds on social media, and many of the DCEU fans decided to use it against Gunn, since he, *checks notes* decided to cast comic-accurate Superman.

What do you think? Do you see the similarities? Let us know in the comments below!
