Fans Threaten To Boycott ‘Captain America 4’ Due to Israeli Character: “I’m Pirating This Movie”

We know that ‘Captain America: Brave New World’ was stuck in a development hell for quite some time. The movie was supposed to be released this year but after early test screenings proved to have overwhelmingly negative feedback, the flick was scheduled for a massive round of reshoots.

Now these reshoots are finally underway but the fans had quite a surprising reaction to them.

The movie is currently undergoing reshoots in Georgia as reported by Nexus Point News, and the fans took the opportunity to voice their discontent around one minor character being included. The upcoming movie is supposed to feature Sabra. Sabra is an Israeli superheroine and Mossad Agent who possesses enhanced strength, speed, agility, and senses due to genetic enhancements. She also has a suit with built-in weaponry, including retractable blades and energy blasts. Sabra is depicted as a skilled combatant and a member of various superhero teams over the years.

The character is supposed to be played by Shira Haas, an Israeli actress. Due to the ongoing conflict between Israel and Palestine, plenty of fans voiced their opinion that it’s distasteful to include the character in light of recent acts that Israel committed against Palestinian civilians.

The reactions ranged from threatening to boycotting the movie to threatening to pirate the movie and ultimately, hoping that the character would be written out completely.

Despite Sabra being a largely unimportant and inconsequential character in the large scheme of things, this is not the first controversy that Marvel Studios faced surrounding her.

2 years ago, they issued a statement trying to pacify angry fans when the fandom first learned that she would appear in the movie:

While our characters and stories are inspired by the comics they are always freshly imagined for the screen and today’s audience, and the filmmakers are taking a new approach with the character Sabra who was first introduced in the comics over 40 years ago.

What do you think? Should Sabra be removed? Let us know in the comments below!
