First Look at LEGO Sagrada Família Reveals Record-Breaking Set With Insane Piece Count and Eye-Watering Price Tag
The LEGO Group has revealed its most ambitious set ever, and it is inspired by one of the most famous buildings in the world. The new LEGO Architecture Sagrada Família set is based on the legendary basilica in Barcelona, designed by Antoni Gaudí. The announcement was made on 4 June 2026 in Billund, Denmark, as reported by the LEGO Group.
This new set is part of the LEGO Architecture line, which focuses on detailed models of real-world landmarks. The company says the release also honors the 100th anniversary of Gaudí’s death, making it a special tribute to the architect’s legacy.
The model is massive. It includes 12,060 LEGO pieces, making it the largest LEGO set ever created by piece count. The structure is designed to reflect the real-life building process of the Sagrada Família, which has been under construction for more than a century. LEGO says the build itself follows that same journey step by step.
The construction begins with the lower parts of the basilica, including the Apse and Crypt. It then moves into key sections like the Nativity façade and Passion façade. After that, builders work through the central naves and towers before finishing with the Eastern Sacristy and the Glory façade. The idea is to mirror how the real structure has grown over time.
One of the most striking features of the model is its stained-glass style effect, which is designed to reflect how light passes through the real basilica. When completed, the set becomes a large display piece meant to be viewed from all angles, not just as a toy but as a detailed architectural model.
Rok Žgalin Kobe, a LEGO Architecture designer, spoke about the challenge of creating the set. He said, “We felt an immense responsibility to do justice to the Sagrada Família through this design. Our goal was to honour Gaudí’s vision with the utmost respect, capturing the rhythm of the basilica’s construction, its extraordinary complexity and ambition, and translating that into an immersive building experience.” He added that working on such a large and detailed structure was a unique challenge for the team.

The LEGO Group says the set is designed for adult builders, travel fans, and architecture lovers. It also connects with the LEGO Builder app, which gives digital instructions, 3D viewing tools, and progress tracking to guide users through the long build.
The LEGO Architecture Sagrada Família set (21065) will be available for pre-order starting 4th June 2026. It will officially launch worldwide on 1st November 2026. The price is set at £649.99, €749.99, or $799.99 depending on the region, according to LEGO.
With its record-breaking piece count and detailed design, this set stands as one of the most complex LEGO releases ever made, bringing a famous landmark into brick form in a way never done before.
