Following the conclusion of Netflix’s acclaimed Daredevil series starring Charlie Cox in 2018, fans had hoped that Marvel Studios would revive the series, which eventually happened when the reboot series Daredevil: Born Again was announced at San Diego Comic-Con in July 2022.

Charlie Cox has already appeared as Matt Murdock in two MCU projects — Spider-Man: No Way Home and the She-Hulk: Attorney at Law series on Disney+ — while Vincent D’Onofrio reprised the role of Wilson Fisk, aka Kingpin, in the Hawkeye series. Now, they’re both set to return along with a bunch of new cast members in the upcoming reboot series, which is set to premiere on Disney+ in 2024 and run for 18 episodes.

First look at Michael Gandolfini in Daredevil: Born Again

Apart from some familiar faces, Daredevil: Born Again will feature many new cast members. One of them is Michael Gandolfini, best known for starring in The Many Saints of Newark, where he played the role of Tony Soprano. His father, James Gandolfini, originally played that role in the legendary TV series The Sopranos.

It’s unknown what role Gandolfini will play in Daredevil: Born Again, although some rumors are saying that he could play young Wilson Fisk or maybe even Richard Fisk, also known as The Rose, who is the son of Wilson and Vanessa Fisk. Gandolfini’s character remains a mystery, but we have a good feeling he’ll be connected to Vincent D’Onofirio’s character somehow.

The original Born Again comic book was published by Marvel Comics in 1986. Frank Miller wrote the comic book, and its story was already loosely adapted into the third season of Netflix’s Daredevil. Of course, knowing MCU, when a live-action project shares a name with the source material, that doesn’t mean the story from the source material will be closely followed.

Created by Matt Corman and Chris Ord, Daredevil: Born Again is set to premiere on Disney+ in early 2024. Consisting of 18 episodes, the series will have the longest season of any Disney+ original programming. Charlie Cox and Vincent D’Onofrio are reprising the roles of Matt Murdock and Wilson Fisk, while Jon Bernthal returns as Frank Castle, aka the Punisher.

Sandrine Holt joined the series as Vanessa Fisk, replacing Ayelet Zurer from the original series. Michael Gandolfini, Margarita Levieva, Nikki M. James, Michael Gaston, and Arty Froushan star in undisclosed roles.
