First Look at Takashi Yamazaki’s New Mechagodzilla Design Unveiled

Takashi Yamazaki, the director behind Godzilla Minus One and an Academy Award® winner for Best Visual Effects, has revealed his fresh design for Mechagodzilla. This new look will appear in an exciting new attraction called GODZILLA THE RIDE: GREAT CLASH, opening on August 1 at Seibuen Amusement Park in Japan.
The ride features a big ocean battle between Godzilla and the new Mechagodzilla, which Yamazaki created together with the GMO production team and Shirogumi Inc. This Mechagodzilla is named the “KIJU type 0-G BREAKER” and will make its first appearance in this ride experience.
Visitors to the park will become part of the story as “Godzilla surveillance crew members” on board the Goose Nest. This ship is the main base for the Emergency Defense against Gargantuan Encounter (EDGE) team and carries the Mechagodzilla.
The Goose Nest also has a special drone ship called “GOOSE,” which can travel underwater, on the surface, and even fly. For about 15 minutes, riders will take on a mission to find Godzilla and face off against him using this advanced technology.
Before the ride starts, guests can check out a special pre-show area. This includes live EDGE performers, big screens showing Godzilla attacking coastal areas, and detailed models of the Goose Nest ship. There’s also a life-sized model of the KIJU type 0-G BREAKER Mechagodzilla in its hangar so visitors can see it up close.
This new ride is a follow-up to Yamazaki’s previous project, Godzilla the Ride: Giant Monsters Ultimate Battle, which is still running at Seibuen Amusement Park. Yamazaki is deeply involved in the Godzilla series and is currently working on a new Godzilla film, so fans have more exciting things to look forward to.
The combination of thrilling visuals, strong storytelling, and Yamazaki’s creative vision promises an unforgettable adventure for everyone who visits. The key image and official logo for GODZILLA THE RIDE: GREAT CLASH have already been released, building up excitement for the ride’s debut.
According to Seibuen Amusement Park and the production teams, this ride offers a new way to experience Godzilla’s epic battles, brought to life by one of the most respected creators in the franchise. Fans of the King of the Monsters won’t want to miss seeing Yamazaki’s amazing Mechagodzilla design when the ride opens this summer.
