First Look: David Corenswet Suits Up as Superman on the Set of ‘Man of Tomorrow’!
The first look at David Corenswet as Superman on the set of Man of Tomorrow has finally arrived, giving fans an early glimpse at the next chapter of the DC Universe.
New set photos show Corenswet fully suited up as the Man of Steel while filming scenes for the upcoming movie. The actor returns as Clark Kent following his debut in Superman (2025), which launched the new DCU under the leadership of writer and director James Gunn.
Man of Tomorrow is the next major Superman story in the franchise and will see the hero face one of his most dangerous enemies yet. According to information released by DC Studios, the film follows Superman and Lex Luthor as they reluctantly join forces against a much larger threat: Brainiac.
Corenswet stars alongside Nicholas Hoult, who returns as Lex Luthor. The cast also includes Rachel Brosnahan, Skyler Gisondo, Isabela Merced, Frank Grillo, MarÃa Gabriela de FarÃa, Sara Sampaio, and Milly Alcock. Lars Eidinger has joined the film as Brainiac, while Aaron Pierre is also part of the cast in an undisclosed role.
The project is being written and directed by James Gunn and produced by Gunn and Peter Safran through DC Studios. The film will serve as a direct follow-up to Superman and is currently set to become the fourth movie in the DC Universe franchise.
The idea for the sequel began taking shape before Superman even reached theaters. According to Gunn, he was already working on a follow-up in June 2025, ahead of the first film’s release the following month. The title Man of Tomorrow and the first story details were officially revealed in September 2025.
Production on the movie is now well underway. Principal photography started on April 20, with filming taking place mainly at Trilith Studios in Fayetteville, Georgia. The production is also using the working title Exodus during filming.
Several locations are being used for the movie. In addition to Georgia, scenes are being shot in the United Kingdom and Cincinnati, Ohio. Terminal Station in Macon, Georgia, is reportedly being used as a stand-in for the Daily Planet newsroom.
More casting announcements have continued to arrive as filming progresses. In early May, Matthew Lillard and Sinqua Walls joined the cast in undisclosed roles. Lillard previously worked on the live-action Scooby-Doo films, which were written by Gunn. Around the same time, it was confirmed that Milly Alcock would reprise her role as Kara Zor-El, better known as Supergirl.

The film’s cinematography is being handled by Sam McCurdy, who previously collaborated with Gunn on Peacemaker. Frank Grillo is expected to spend around ten weeks filming between the UK and Georgia, while Lars Eidinger’s work on the project is scheduled to continue through the end of August.
Filming is expected to continue until the middle of 2026.
According to information released by DC Studios and production reports, Man of Tomorrow is scheduled to hit theaters on July 9, 2027, through Warner Bros. Pictures. The film will be part of the DC Universe’s Chapter One: Gods and Monsters and is shaping up to be one of the franchise’s biggest releases yet.
