The first trailer for Scream 7 has finally arrived, and it marks the highly anticipated return of Neve Campbell as Sidney Prescott, the character who defined the franchise’s legacy. The upcoming horror sequel, directed by Kevin Williamson, will hit theaters on February 27, 2026, according to Paramount Pictures.

The film is a direct follow-up to Scream VI and will once again bring the iconic Ghostface back to haunt a new generation of victims.

Alongside Campbell, several familiar faces will return, including Courteney Cox as Gale Weathers, Mason Gooding, Jasmin Savoy Brown, and Roger L. Jackson, who continues to voice the terrifying killer. David Arquette will also reprise his role as Dewey Riley, despite his character’s death in a previous installment, sparking plenty of fan theories about how he’ll reappear.

New additions to the cast include Isabel May, who plays Sidney’s daughter, and Joel McHale as her husband. Other names attached to the project are Anna Camp, Mark Consuelos, Ethan Embry, and Mckenna Grace, whose roles are being kept under wraps.

Production for the seventh film wrapped earlier this year after a turbulent pre-production phase. Originally, Scream 7 was supposed to be directed by Christopher Landon, known for Happy Death Day, but he left the project following major cast changes. The exits of Melissa Barrera and Jenna Ortega, who starred in the two most recent Scream films, led to a complete creative overhaul.

Barrera was removed from the film in November 2023 after making political comments online about the Gaza conflict, while Ortega later confirmed in an interview that she decided to step away due to changes in the team and direction of the movie.

“The Melissa stuff was happening, and it was all kind of falling apart,” Ortega told Vanity Fair in 2025. “If Scream VII wasn’t going to be with that team of directors and those people I fell in love with, then it didn’t seem like the right move for me.”

After Landon’s departure, Williamson, who wrote and produced the original Scream films, stepped in to direct, making it his first time behind the camera for the franchise. Filming took place between January and March of this year.

The new trailer teases a darker, more emotional tone as Sidney faces her greatest challenge yet. Set years after the events of Scream VI, it shows Hawkins-style small-town paranoia and a Ghostface more brutal and personal than ever. Fans can also expect several callbacks to earlier films, along with new twists that promise to tie the entire saga together.

Despite the behind-the-scenes drama, the hype around Scream 7 is massive. With Campbell leading the charge once again, horror lovers are ready for what could be a final, blood-soaked farewell to one of cinema’s most iconic survivors.
