One of the most exciting upcoming MCU projects is ‘Thunderbolts.’ Production was slated to kick off in Summer 2023, and the cast was expected to include actors already associated with the Marvel Cinematic Universe, with Marvel Studios making efforts to ensure their availability.

Then, the SAG-AFTRA strike happened and paralyzed the industry for more than 3 months and stalled the progress of the movie. Little is known about the overall plot, except that it will see a group of antiheroes as they go on various missions for the government.

Now, that ‘Thunderbolts’ has begun shooting officially, Florence Pugh returning as Yelena Belova shared some of the behind-the-scenes details in her Instagram video.

Florence walked the fans through the set admitting that she can’t really show that much, but she did give us a glimpse of her new outfit and walked us directly into the studio as the filming was taking place. She stopped to talk with the director, Jake Schreier, and in the process revealed that the new title of the movie is ‘Thunderbolts*.’ The reason for adding the asterisk is unknown currently, but this is also how Florence referred to the movie in her Instagram description so we can assume that it’s not a mistake, and the true meaning will be revealed later.

The video comes just days after the filming officially began. Previous set leaks reported that Sebastian Stan is currently not on set to film his parts.

‘Thunderbolts’ didn’t have easy development so far, being marked by the SAG-AFTRA strike, and then months before the movie was supposed to shoot Steven Yeun gave up on his role of Sentry, forcing the studio to recast him with Lewis Pullman being the top choice to replace him with the rumors soon confirmed by the studio.

Laurence Fishburne and Rachel Weisz are set to reprise their roles as Bill Foster and Melina Vostokoff in the MCU. Geraldine Viswanathan joined the cast as de Fontaine’s assistant after a schedule delay led to the departure of another actor. The film’s release date was moved to May 2, 2025, swapping with The Fantastic Four. Joanna Calo was tasked with rewriting the script, with earlier drafts focusing on the team’s mission, potentially resulting in their deaths.
