The penultimate chapter of ‘From‘ Season 4 is nearly upon us, and the tension has never been higher. After weeks of escalating dread, psychological breakdowns, and a mysterious figure in yellow tearing through whatever trust the town had left, the series is now just two episodes away from closing out one of its most gripping seasons yet.

Episode 9, titled ‘The Calm Before,’ is set to release on Sunday, June 21, at 9 PM ET and 6 PM PT on MGM+ in the US. For anyone who has been riding the slow-burn terror of this season week after week, that date cannot arrive soon enough.

‘From’ Season 4 Episode 9 Release Date and Where to Watch

MGM+ confirmed that the upcoming episode will be available this weekend, with the season wrapping entirely on June 28 with the finale, titled ‘If a Tree Falls in the Forest…’ That means fans have only two more chances to get answers before the credits roll on Season 4.

US viewers can watch on MGM+ at 9:00 p.m. ET and 6:00 p.m. PT, with a subscription available for $7.99 per month or an annual plan at $61.99 that also supports offline viewing. New subscribers can take advantage of a standard seven-day free trial.

Canadian viewers can stream the episode at the same Eastern and Pacific times via Paramount+, while UK audiences will need to tune in a day later on June 22 at 2:00 a.m. through Sky Sci-Fi or NOW. Indian viewers can catch it on its UK release date at 6:30 a.m. IST on Prime Video.

The platform is also accessible as an add-on through Prime Video, Apple TV, and other live streaming services, though some viewers have reported early release times when watching via those third-party apps.

What the Official Synopsis Reveals About Boyd’s Plan

The official synopsis for ‘The Calm Before,’ as listed on Rotten Tomatoes, reads: the residents of the town stand at a crossroads unlike any they have faced before as Boyd sets a daring, and dangerous, plan in motion. Short as it is, it carries serious weight for anyone who has been watching the season unfold.

In Episode 8, Boyd and Jade clashed over how to retrieve the bones of dead children from the tunnel without being cornered by the creatures, with Boyd refusing to commit to what he viewed as a suicide mission. The Man in Yellow also intervened, attempting to convince Tabitha that the plan was a bad idea.

Episode 9 may see them move forward with a revised plan, and one storyline that will likely continue is Julie’s story-walking, given how heavily Season 4 has built around her connection to the town’s timeline. The title itself signals something significant: a brief exhale before the chaos of a season finale that the show’s creators have been building toward all year.

The Psychological Weight Crushing Boyd Stevens

Episode 8, titled ‘Heavy Is the Head,’ put all sorts of tension on display within the Township, with Boyd’s tremors and hallucinations worsening as he continued to hear the gunshot that killed his wife. The ongoing conflict between Boyd and Jade also reached a new level of friction, as every plan Jade proposed fell short in Boyd’s eyes.

Harold Perrineau, who plays Boyd, described Season 4 as pulling at threads that somehow only create bigger knots. That is something his character is living in real time, and Perrineau has been consistently praised for grounding the show’s more surreal elements with raw emotional honesty.

In an interview ahead of the season premiere, Perrineau reflected on what it takes to carry that kind of intensity across an entire season, describing the on-set process as deeply collaborative and almost artistic in its demands, while also noting the cast’s ability to decompress between scenes.

A Series Heading Toward Its Endgame

The episode arriving this Sunday comes at a particularly charged moment in the show’s overall arc. Season 4’s premiere episode earned an 8.4 out of 10 on IMDb, making it the highest-rated episode in the show’s history at that point. That enthusiasm from audiences has only grown as the season has deepened its mythology.

Before Season 4 even launched, MGM+ confirmed that the series would be renewed for a fifth and final season, with executive producers John Griffin, Jeff Pinkner, and Jack Bender announcing they had officially begun work on it and teasing that questions would be answered, answers would be questioned, and that plenty of tears and terror still lie ahead.

When fans pushed back on social media about the show ending, Perrineau replied directly on X, writing that the creative team wants to bring the best version possible to the screen and that five seasons accomplishes that. It is a rare and commendable stance, and it makes every remaining episode of Season 4 feel that much more urgent.

In a ScreenRant interview, Perrineau was also asked about a long-standing fan complaint that the show’s characters rarely share information with one another, and he explained that Season 4 marks a natural progression in that regard, as residents have more to share and more reason to trust each other after so much loss. If Boyd’s plan in Episode 9 reflects that shift, it could be the most emotionally satisfying hour the show has ever produced.

With the finale one week away and Boyd about to make what could be his most consequential move yet, now is the time to share your thoughts: do you think Boyd’s plan finally breaks the town’s cycle, or is ‘The Calm Before’ just setting fans up for a devastating fall in the finale?
