Glen Powell Doesn’t Want To Play Superheroes, Except for Batman: “It Definitely Would Not Be Like a Matt Reeves Tone”

Glen Powell is an American actor, writer, and producer, he is involved with pretty much every process of filmmaking, but most recently, he’s been known for his roles in ‘Top Gun’ and ‘Anyone But You’ One of his breakout roles in film came with the 2016 movie ‘Hidden Figures,’ where he played astronaut John Glenn. This film, which highlights the contributions of African American women mathematicians at NASA during the Space Race, was both a critical and commercial success.

Powell started acting long before that however, as he appeared in ‘Spy Kids’ installment when he was 13, and now years later after he finally conquered Hollywood the actor is pulling back and ready to give it all up.

Previously, the actor claimed that he is ready to retire from acting and that he doesn’t want to take part in Marvel movies or Oscar bait movies, but in his recent interview with GQ, the actor claims is ready to make an exception.

Powell claims he doesn’t want to take on superhero roles, with an exception, he would like to play Batman, a different version of Batman.

I was always a Batman guy. […]I would have a wild take on Batman. It definitely would not be like a Matt Reeves tone – it’d probably be closer to Keaton. Oh, sick!

Despite the actor now being somewhat of a household name, it wasn’t always like that, he never got the chance to play Batman but he did take part in ‘The Dark Knight Rises’ at the beginning of his career.

I get my head smashed in by Bane in ‘The Dark Knight Rises.’

Powell moved to LA from Austin, Texas, in 2008, but faced difficulties establishing himself as a young actor. He went through multiple agents and sometimes represented himself, feeling unsupported and directionless. Determined, he checked casting breakdowns daily, filmed unsolicited auditions, and had a friend in sales call casting directors for him. Powell adopted a relentless attitude, deciding to push through every obstacle, thinking, “You might as well kick down every door you possibly can.”

Considering that DCU is currently looking for a new actor to portray Batman, who knows, maybe Powell decides to give it a try.
