That relentless pace shows no signs of slowing down. His latest big-screen project sees him returning to the exact kind of territory that’s defined much of his recent success, digging back into the glamorous, cutthroat world of Britain’s wealthy elite that made ‘The Gentlemen’ such a hit across both its film and television iterations.

That new project, ‘Wife & Dog,’ has just gotten its first teaser trailer, confirming a star-studded cast led by Benedict Cumberbatch, Rosamund Pike, and Anthony Hopkins ahead of its February 19, 2027 release in UK and Ireland cinemas. The teaser gives fans their first real glimpse into what the film’s official synopsis describes as “the relentless greed of the Fairbank family and their associates” fueling “betrayal and murder in the battle for succession.”

As that narration plays, quick cuts throughout the trailer show Pike seated at an opulent formal dinner, setting the tone for the kind of high-society backdrop Ritchie has become known for exploring.

The footage builds toward a genuine sense of dread, with a body appearing to wash up on shore midway through and both Cumberbatch and Pike shown with visibly concerned expressions throughout. That tension escalates into a brutal physical confrontation involving Cumberbatch’s character, which ultimately ends with him pulling the trigger on someone, giving audiences a clear sense of just how violent this particular family drama gets.

Cumberbatch and Pike headline the film as an aristocratic power couple whose greed reportedly sends them down an increasingly violent path, while Hopkins rounds out the central trio in a role whose specific character details remain closely guarded. The supporting ensemble includes Cosmo Jarvis, James Norton, Paddy Considine, and Pip Torrens, all of whom joined the production as filming got underway in the UK back in February.

Ritchie wrote, directed, and produced the film himself, working alongside longtime producing partner Ivan Atkinson and Black Bear’s John Friedberg. The project marks the third collaboration between Ritchie, Atkinson, and Black Bear following ‘The Ministry of Ungentlemanly Warfare’ and ‘In the Grey,’ continuing a productive partnership that’s clearly paid off across multiple genres.

Black Bear first launched sales on ‘Wife & Dog’ during the Cannes Film Market, with the project described from the very beginning as a genuine return to the same colorful, back-stabbing aristocratic world Ritchie previously explored in ‘The Gentlemen’ film and its subsequent television adaptation. That thematic continuity should feel familiar to fans who’ve followed Ritchie’s recent output closely, even as the specific story and characters remain entirely new.

Notably, ‘Wife & Dog’ marks Ritchie’s return to UK cinemas specifically since ‘The Gentlemen’s’ original 2019 theatrical release, having spent the years since primarily focused on streaming projects and other film work distributed differently across markets.
