Streaming hits don’t often get a second life on the big screen, but ‘Heated Rivalry‘ has never been an ordinary streaming hit. The Canadian hockey romance became a global phenomenon after its debut on Crave and HBO Max in November 2025, driven by viral clips, sharp writing and the chemistry between its two leads.

Created by Jacob Tierney and based on Rachel Reid’s ‘Game Changers’ books, the series follows rival professional hockey players Shane Hollander, played by Hudson Williams, and Ilya Rozanov, played by Connor Storrie, over an eight-year journey of ambition, rivalry and secret love. Crave called it its most-watched original series debut, and a second season was ordered just 15 days after the premiere.

Now, fans who have been rewatching at home will get the chance to see it in a theater. ‘Heated Rivalry’ will be released in theaters starting November 6, with Season 1 split into three paired screenings: Episodes 1 and 2, Episodes 3 and 4, and Episodes 5 and 6.

The pairings follow the show’s natural rhythm. The first screening covers “Rookies” and “Olympians”, the second covers “Hunter” and “Rose”, and the third covers “I’ll Believe in Anything” and “The Cottage”. Together, they let audiences revisit the full six-episode season in order.

In the United States, the run is being led by Regal in partnership with Sphere Abacus, the Bell Media company that helped bring the show to international audiences. It will play in more than 650 theaters, including AMC and Cinemark locations, from November 6 through November 30, with tickets costing $9.99 for each pairing.

The rollout isn’t limited to the United States. Sphere Abacus said the screenings will also reach theaters in the U.K., Australia and New Zealand, with executive Hana Palmer calling the show a global phenomenon and saying the company is excited to let audiences watch the drama unfold on big screens.

In Canada, where the series originated, Cineplex will screen the show on November 6 as well, followed by a full marathon of all six episodes on November 8. That marathon, including intermissions, runs about five hours and 22 minutes, which should make it an endurance test for even the most devoted fans.

Regal screenings are also set to include bonus content, with a special welcome message and extra material featuring the cast, show creator and director. That makes the event feel more like a fan celebration than a simple rerun.

The timing works as an early anniversary tribute, since the series marks one year since its premiere on November 28, 2025. For a show built on online buzz, the chance to gather in a theater with other viewers is a natural next step.

The series has remained a cultural fixture all year. It earned acclaim for Tierney’s direction, the writing and the chemistry between its leads, and both stars became fixtures on red carpets, presenting at the Golden Globes in January and making their Met Gala debuts in May.

That popularity has also fueled demand for a communal viewing experience. Many fans first discovered the show through clips shared online, and a theatrical release gives them the chance to experience the full story, including the steamier scenes, with an audience.

While fans wait, Season 2 is already in motion. Filming began in Toronto in August, and Tierney has said the new season will arrive in April 2027, drawing mainly from ‘The Long Game’ with elements of ‘Role Model’ folded in.

That makes the theatrical run something of a bridge between seasons. It gives viewers a way to relive the story that started it all while the creative team prepares the next chapter.

Tickets are available through participating theaters, and showtimes vary by location. Fans in the U.S. can look to Regal, AMC and Cinemark listings, while those in Canada can check Cineplex for the November 6 screenings and the November 8 marathon.

Given the buzz around the announcement, the most popular showtimes could sell out quickly, so those hoping to catch the series on the big screen may want to book early.
