His villainous brother Grim Reaper will also appear beside the titular Wonder Man. While the villain’s name and ominous appearance suggest he’s a formidable opponent, how does he stack up against Wonder Man and the other MCU heroes? Eric Williams, aka Grim Reaper, was born without superpowers

Eric Williams was a brother of Simon Williams, better known as the superhero Wonder Man. Despite both brothers eventually turning to a life of crime, Eric was always considered the family’s black sheep. However, after Simon’s ill-fated attempt to infiltrate and defeat the Avengers from within, Eric was consumed by a deep-seated anger that would eventually lead him down his own dark path.

Eric’s connections to the Maggia, an international crime syndicate, proved to be a pivotal turning point in his life. Through the Maggia, he was introduced to the Tinkerer, who provided him with his first taste of superpowers: Grim Reaper’s Scythe. This powerful weapon would become Eric’s signature tool of destruction, greatly amplifying his abilities.

At first, Eric was just a normal human, but with the Scythe in his possession, he became the fearsome Grim Reaper. The Scythe was an impressive weapon with a 48-inch long blade and a 24-inch long shaft. Besides its deadly sharpness, it had some unusual functionalities, such as the ability to fire concussive plasma blasts capable of causing destruction on the level of explosions.

However, perhaps the most terrifying aspect of the Scythe was its ability to induce a coma in living targets with a single strike. If left untreated, the coma could prove to be fatal. In addition to this, Grim Reaper could also incapacitate his targets with anesthetic clouds that the weapon could disseminate.

Despite its offensive capabilities, the Scythe could also be used as a shield to deflect bullets or to negate fall damage. This was made possible by the blade’s incredible rotation speed, which could reach up to 6,000 rotations per minute.

In conclusion, Grim Reaper’s Scythe is a powerful and terrifying weapon that greatly amplifies Eric Williams’ abilities. Grim Reaper died multiple times, every time returning as a more powerful version of himself

The first time Grim Reaper died was in a battle against his brother Wonder Man and the Avengers. He met his demise when the cliff he was standing on collapsed, sending him to death. However, Grim Reaper was later resurrected by Nekra, who imbued him with supernatural abilities that made him even more powerful than before.

Unfortunately for Grim Reaper, his newfound power would not protect him from another death at the hands of his own brother. During a confrontation between the two, Wonder Man snapped Grim Reaper’s neck, again ending his life. But once again, Grim Reaper would return, resurrected by Nekra with a new, terrifying ability: the power to absorb life force from living targets.

As an undead creature, Grim Reaper required the life force of others to sustain his undead existence. This forced him to kill and absorb life force from at least one person per day, a gruesome task that made him even more dangerous and unpredictable. With each resurrection, Grim Reaper became more twisted and depraved, his thirst for power and vengeance growing stronger with each passing day.

Ultron merged Grim Reaper with his iconic weapon 

Grim Reaper’s third power upgrade came in the form of Ultron. Grim Reaper accidentally uncovered Ultron’s vile plot to turn the whole of California into robotized androids. In turn, Ultron fused Grim Reaper’s arm with his iconic weapon to keep him silent. Eventually, Grim Reaper turned against Ultron and sided with his brother, Wonder Man. 

Grim Reaper attempted to sell his soul for supernatural powers 

Grim Reaper’s quest for power reached a horrifying conclusion when he made a deal with the demonic entity Lloigoroth. Desperate to avoid the endless cycle of death and resurrection, Grim Reaper was willing to pay any price for true superhuman abilities. In exchange for a steady stream of human lives, Lloigoroth granted Grim Reaper the power to summon legions of hellish and undead creatures and the ability to practice necromancy, the dark art of raising the dead.

With his newfound powers, Grim Reaper became a truly fearsome opponent, capable of calling forth undead legions to do his bidding. His necromancy allowed him to control and manipulate the very souls of the dead, pulling them from the underworld and bending them to his will. He could teleport and easily create illusions, and on multiple occasions, he demonstrated clairvoyant visions that revealed hidden truths and secrets.

How powerful is Grim Reaper? 

Grim Reaper was powerful enough to pose quite a danger to both his brother and Avengers on several occasions. At first, technology empowered him until he eventually acquired supernatural powers through a series of resurrections and deals he made with demonic entities. To this day, Grim Reaper’s most iconic power comes in the form of his unique Scythe and his ability to utilize necromancy. 

Even though Grim Reaper is nowhere near as durable as some of the more notable characters from the Marvel Universe, he seems to have trouble staying dead as he always manages to find a way to return to the world of the living. His constant resurrections can be considered to be a superpower in itself. 

Regarding physical strength, Grim Reaper is not that strong, capable of lifting only his own body weight. The core of his powers once again is prove to lie in his weapon and supernatural abilities. In terms of speed, Grim Reaper has normal human speeds, sometimes amplified by his ability to teleport.
