Hollywood breakouts rarely happen overnight, but Inde Navarrette’s rise has come close. In little more than a year, she has gone from a relatively unknown actress to one of the most talked-about names in the industry. Now she is openly eyeing her next big franchise, and it is one she has loved since childhood.

Navarrette became a name to watch as Nikki Freeman in ‘Obsession’, Curry Barker’s supernatural horror hit from Focus Features. The film was made in just 20 days on a $750,000 budget and went on to gross roughly $523 million worldwide. It became the highest-grossing film ever made for under $1 million, and the first original film of the 2020s to cross $500 million.

That success has opened doors fast. She is set to play Rogue in Marvel’s upcoming X-Men reboot, and her next project, the horror film ‘Invertigo’, has already been shot. Now she has told Collider exactly where she wants to go next: the ‘Call of Duty‘ movie from Taylor Sheridan and Peter Berg.

Speaking to Collider’s Aidan Kelley at the Newport Beach Film Festival, Navarrette made it clear the filmmakers wouldn’t have to do any convincing. Asked what it would take to get her on board, she answered that all it would take is a phone call or a text. In her words, if someone told her Collider “There’s a car outside. You gotta go,” she would definitely say yes.

She added that she is a big fan and is excited to see what the team does with the adaptation. Ray Nicholson of ‘Smile 2’ also spoke at the same event and said he would jump at the chance to work with Berg again. Fans have taken well to the idea of Navarrette in the cast.

The enthusiasm is no act. Navarrette is a former gaming streamer who played ‘Call of Duty’, ‘Halo’ and ‘Red Dead Redemption’ on Twitch, and she grew up playing ‘Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2’. At the festival, a fan reportedly surprised her with a sealed 2009 copy of the game said to be worth about $1,000.

That background makes her interest feel earned. ‘Call of Duty’ is set to adapt the Modern Warfare storylines, so a performer who grew up with those characters would arrive with a deep understanding of the material. It also fits a pattern of Navarrette embracing her nerd roots in interviews.

Landing the part would not be simple. Navarrette is now one of Hollywood’s hottest commodities, and she has already taken on the Rogue role while meeting with major directors. She has also missed out on at least one dream project: she said she hoped to play Violet Sorrengail in Prime Video’s ‘Fourth Wing’ adaptation, but the part went to Esther McGregor.

Still, the timeline could work in her favor. The ‘Call of Duty’ movie is scheduled to arrive in theaters on June 30, 2028, which leaves room for casting announcements well ahead of release. No cast has been revealed yet.

Paramount and Activision are behind the adaptation, with Berg directing and co-writing alongside Sheridan, the creator of ‘Yellowstone’ and ‘Landman’. Berg has said the film will explore the cost of war and the burden carried by those who put themselves between danger and everyone else. He has also called the characters complicated humans rather than cartoon figures.

That tone could suit a rising horror star who has proven she can carry a dark, intense performance. Navarrette’s turn in ‘Obsession’ showed range, from warm and relaxed to unsettling, and Berg and Sheridan are known for grounded, character-driven storytelling. Whether the call ever comes remains to be seen, but she has made her availability very public.
