Call of Duty (CoD) is a first-person shooter franchise published by Activision that began in 2003 and has become one of the most successful video game series of all time. It was originally set in World War II before expanding into modern and futuristic settings, leading to major sub-series like Modern Warfare and Black Ops. The franchise has been developed mainly by Infinity Ward, Treyarch, and Sledgehammer Games, with several spin-offs created by other studios.
