Insider Scoop: ‘Superman’ Villain Hammer of Boravia Will Have a Different Identity By The End of the Movie

Superman has fought many villains in past movies, like Lex Luthor, General Zod, and a mutant made from his own DNA. But many other comic book enemies, like Brainiac and Bizarro, haven’t shown up on screen yet.

Now, in the new DC Universe, Superman will face some fresh threats. In James Gunn’s upcoming Superman movie, Lex Luthor (played by Nicholas Hoult) is back with new plans. The movie will also feature other villains, including Simon Stagg, the Engineer, a giant monster (kaiju), the powerful Hammer of Boravia, and a mysterious man in black. That mystery villain might be Ultraman, an evil version of Superman.

Two new kids’ books coming in June gave us new looks at the villain Hammer of Boravia and the rumored Ultraman. Ultraman seems to be confirmed because of the U-shaped symbol on his chest, like in the comics.

Hammer of Boravia isn’t from the comics, but he looks like two lesser-known Superman villains: Jackhammer and Barrage. He also wears gold armor like them.

Industry insider Daniel Richtman recently shared a scoop on his Patreon account. According to the insider, Hammer of Boravia is actually just Ultraman wearing a different suit at the beginning of the film.

James Gunn talked about the Ultraman rumors last April. He said the main hero in the movie is Superman, and the main villain is Lex Luthor.

Gunn said he doesn’t know where all the other rumors are coming from. He also said there are so many fake stories every day, and it’s hard to keep up. When he tries to correct them, it just gives them more attention.

BUT, he never actually debunked Ultraman rumors, and with every new set leak, it was increasingly clear that Ultraman will, in fact, be one of the villains in the film.

The character was also “confirmed” by the toy leak.
