‘Jackass: Best and Last’ is receiving strong reactions from critics, with the final chapter of the long-running stunt comedy franchise earning one of the best Rotten Tomatoes scores in the series. The fifth and final main ‘Jackass’ movie currently holds a 93% Tomatometer score based on 27 reviews, showing that many critics believe the team is ending its run on a high note.

Directed by Jeff Tremaine and produced by Tremaine alongside Spike Jonze and Johnny Knoxville, the movie brings back the familiar faces fans have followed for years. Johnny Knoxville, Steve-O, Chris Pontius, Wee Man, Preston Lacy, Dave England and Danger Ehren return for one more collection of outrageous stunts, painful challenges and the unpredictable humor that made the franchise famous.

Critics say the biggest difference with ‘Jackass: Best and Last’ is the feeling that this time the goodbye might actually be real. While previous films often ended with the cast joking about retiring, several reviews suggest this installment carries more emotion as the group looks back on decades of chaos.

Writing for Screen Rant, Brandon Zachary gave the film a positive review and praised it as a fitting ending, even if it does not completely reach the same level as earlier entries. Zachary scored the movie 7/10, writing that “while the film can’t match the heights (both metaphorical and literal) of previous entries in the series, it remains a fitting farewell for fans.”

Metro.co.uk critic Alana Anderson also highlighted the emotional side of the final movie, giving it 4/5 stars. Anderson explained that what separates this entry from previous films is the sense that audiences are truly saying goodbye to a group that changed comedy. “What sets Best and Last apart from the others is the emotion,” Anderson wrote, adding that the film feels like a farewell to the pioneers of modern slapstick comedy.

The Financial Times also gave the movie a positive review, with Danny Leigh praising the simple style of humor that has always been part of the franchise. Leigh scored the film 4/5 and noted that “the purer the gag, the more helpless your laughter,” suggesting that the movie succeeds because it stays true to the basic formula that made ‘Jackass’ popular.

IGN’s Eric Goldman described the movie as more of a closing chapter for the franchise than a completely new adventure. Giving it 7/10, Goldman said “Best and Last functions more like a coda to the whole franchise than its own full-fledged Jackass movie,” while praising it as a warm goodbye for longtime fans.

Not every critic was impressed, however. Avi Offer of NYC Movie Guru gave the film a negative review, calling it “lazy, repetitive and unfunny.” The critic argued that the movie relies too heavily on the same style of jokes without bringing enough new ideas.

Despite some criticism, the overall response has been positive, with many reviewers celebrating the return of Knoxville and the crew for one final round. ‘Jackass: Best and Last’ appears to deliver exactly what fans expect, painful stunts, ridiculous humor and a surprisingly emotional goodbye.
