Jamie Campbell Bower Just Sent Comic-Con Hall H Into a Frenzy With His New Middle-earth Role
Comic-Con crowds are no strangers to big reveals, but few panels have carried the kind of buzz surrounding ‘The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power‘ this year. Fans packed Hall H anticipating news on the fantasy epic’s upcoming third season, and the anticipation only grew louder as cast members began taking the stage one by one.
Season 3 has already been generating headlines for weeks, with a teaser trailer confirmed for the Prime Video Hall H panel and Daniel Weyman set to debut as a fully realized Gandalf the Grey for the first time since Ian McKellen last played the role. That mounting excitement set the stage for one of the loudest moments of the panel.
Jamie Campbell Bower walked onto the Hall H stage to a massive round of applause, confirming his highly anticipated role in the series. The actor has had his part in ‘The Rings of Power’ Season 3 confirmed as Celeborn, with the Elf lord described as a lover boy teasing a romance with Galadriel. It’s a significant reveal for a character fans have been waiting to see introduced since the show began.
Celeborn, the husband of Galadriel, has been controversially missing from the series until now, despite Galadriel’s history with the character being referenced since season one. Bower joins the Tolkien universe in a role that had been kept tightly under wraps and much rumored over by fans before Empire’s confirmation.
Speaking about the emotional core of the character, Bower reflected on the inspiration behind his take on Celeborn. In an interview with Empire, he explained, “This idea of longing and yearning is so pervasive in Tolkien’s relationship with Edith for the time that they were apart.”
Morfydd Clark, who reprises her role as Galadriel, spoke just as warmly about her new co-star. She said, “She’s kind of rude to him in the books. She’s the queen! But Jamie looks exactly like how I would imagine Celeborn. He’s such an Elf.”
Marton Csokas previously played Celeborn briefly in Peter Jackson’s original ‘The Lord of the Rings’ films, but Bower’s version leans heavily into a warmer, more romantic portrayal. Celeborn is described as a Sindarin Elf and consummate warrior more than 1,500 years old by the time of the events in ‘The Rings of Power.’
Season 3 of ‘The Rings of Power’ is set to premiere on November 11, 2026, with eight new episodes arriving on Prime Video. With Bower’s casting now confirmed and Hall H buzzing, fans have plenty to unpack heading into the new season.
