Kevin Feige Just Teased Tom Holland’s Spider-Man Future, And It Sounds Like More Than One Trilogy
‘Spider-Man: Brand New Day‘ is arriving in theaters soon, but Marvel Studios President Kevin Feige is already looking way past opening weekend. Tom Holland’s Peter Parker has spent nearly a decade webslinging through the MCU, and with a new chapter finally on the horizon, fans have been desperate for any hint of what comes next.
The buzz has only grown louder as the film’s release date closes in, with Sadie Sink joining the cast in a mysterious new role and returning players like Jon Bernthal’s Punisher and Mark Ruffalo’s Hulk factoring into the story. But it’s the conversation happening off screen, between Feige and longtime producing partner Amy Pascal, that’s really got people talking.
Speaking with Collider’s Steven Weintraub while promoting ‘Spider-Man: Brand New Day,’ Feige revealed that he and Pascal are already plotting out several more Spider-Man movies beyond the one about to hit theaters. Feige explained that the pair have discussed “what the next two, three, four, or five Spider-Man movies might be,” a comment that immediately fueled speculation about an entirely new trilogy for Holland’s version of the wallcrawler.
That timeline lines up with what’s already known about ‘Brand New Day’ itself. The film picks up four years after the events of ‘Spider-Man: No Way Home,’ following Peter as he fights crime anonymously in a city that no longer remembers who he is. That gap gives the story room to explore just how isolating it’s been for Peter to lose Aunt May, MJ, and Ned all at once, while still holding onto the wit that’s defined the character since ‘Homecoming.’
Feige and Pascal’s history with the franchise stretches back years, and that partnership has clearly shaped how deliberately each new phase of Holland’s Spider-Man has been built. Feige has also teased Weibo that Holland could lead another two trilogies of Spider-Man films going forward, which would mean as many as nine movies total for this version of the character if Sony and Marvel commit to the full run.
Holland has been playing Peter Parker for roughly ten years now, growing up on screen alongside Zendaya and Jacob Batalon, and that shared history has become part of what makes this franchise feel different from other superhero reboots. Feige even joked during the Collider conversation that Holland might eventually decide he’s “good” and ready to move on from the role, though nothing about that seems imminent given how much is already being mapped out behind the scenes.
For now, all eyes are on ‘Spider-Man: Brand New Day’ itself, which producers have suggested could be one of the most ambitious entries in Holland’s run yet. Whether this really is the start of a new trilogy or something even bigger remains to be seen, but Feige and Pascal clearly aren’t treating this as a one-and-done sequel.
