There are several MCU projects currently in production. Captain America: New World Order is currently filming, as well as the upcoming Disney+ shows Wonder Man and Daredevil: Born Again. One of the most anticipated MCU movies, Deadpool 3, is also set to begin production in the coming weeks. Recently we learned that Morena Baccarin and Stefan Kapičić have signed to return as Vanessa and Colossus, respectively.

We already know that Shawn Levy will direct Deadpool 3, and most of the cast has already signed on. Today, we’ve learned that George Richmond will work on Deadpool 3 as the cinematographer. Richmond didn’t work on previous Deadpool movies, but he’s already got experience with blockbuster franchises, and this won’t be the first time he’s working with Levy.

The original Deadpool movie’s cinematographer was Ken Seng, and Jonathan Sela worked on the 2018 sequel Deadpool 2. Richmond previously worked on Shawn Levy’s Free Guy, in which Ryan Reynolds starred in the titular role. Richmond’s most notable works include Matthew Vaughn’s Kingsman: The Secret Service and Kingsman: The Golden Circle. He’s also working with Vaughn on Argylle, an upcoming spy movie that is currently in post-production.

While superhero movies are generally stunning to see, their cinematography usually isn’t as praised as much as their CGI and visual effects. While some known cinematographers have worked in the superhero genre before, superhero movies usually aren’t mentioned as their notable works. The latest example is Greg Fraiser, an acclaimed cinematographer who won the Academy Award for Best Cinematography for his work on Denis Villeneuve’s Dune. He also worked on Matt Reeves’ The Batman, and while the critics praised the movie’s cinematography, Fraiser wasn’t nominated for any award for his work that movie.

We don’t even know how many MCU fans are worrying about the cinematography of the movies they know and love, especially because Deadpool 3 isn’t one of the most anticipated superhero movies at the moment because it’s going to look great. The movie is anticipated because of the announced return of Hugh Jackman’s Wolverine, who will finally team up with Ryan Reynolds’ Deadpool for the first time since 2009’s X-Men Origins: Wolverine.

We’re glad Deadpool erased that movie’s Wade Wilson from the timeline in Deadpool 2’s post-credit scene, so now we can focus on this comic-accurate Deadpool as he’s gearing up to join the Marvel Cinematic Universe with the first R-rated movie set in the franchise.

Deadpool 3 is set to be released on November 8, 2024.
