Kristen Stewart laid out a very direct plan for her next step as a director, and it involves moving away from the traditional studio pipeline entirely. While promoting Full Phil, Stewart revealed she already has two new films in mind and wants to start shooting one by the end of the year, with a clear goal of making and releasing smaller projects outside the Hollywood system, possibly even on YouTube.

In the conversation, Stewart talked mostly about her plans as a director and how she wants to change the way she releases her own work in the future. She made it clear she is thinking less about the traditional studio system and more about fast, independent filmmaking with her own team.

She said she already knows what she wants to do next and is aiming to move quickly after finishing her current acting commitments. Stewart explained that she does not want to spend years waiting for financing or approval before making a film.

She said, “The two next films that I want to make are very, very clear to me. I want to make one by the end of the year after I work on this Amazon show and then next year I’m going to be shooting in April this other thing that I have in mind.”

Her focus is now on speed and independence, not long production cycles. She said she feels frustrated with how slow the system can be and how hard it is to get smaller, more experimental films made through traditional channels.

Stewart also explained that her idea is to make something very small, very fast, and with people she trusts. She wants to avoid waiting for large budgets or long approval processes. Instead, she is looking for a more direct way to get her work made and seen.

She said, “My goal is to make something for really nothing with my friends before the end of the year and put it on fucking YouTube.”

That idea is central to what she is trying to do next. She described it as a way to take control of her work and remove the layers of industry pressure that usually come with filmmaking in Hollywood. For her, YouTube is not just a fallback platform but a direct way to reach audiences without interference.

Stewart also said that any money earned from the project would go into funding her next film, creating a self-sustaining cycle. The plan is to keep making work continuously instead of waiting for large studio-backed opportunities.

She was very direct about her frustration with the current system, saying she prefers working independently rather than waiting years between projects. At the same time, she emphasized that she still loves filmmaking, but wants to do it in a way that feels more immediate and personal.

Her comments reflect a shift in how she sees her career moving forward, with more emphasis on control, speed, and direct distribution rather than traditional Hollywood release paths.
