Marvel fans finally got a better look at Robert Downey Jr.’s Doctor Doom after new concept art from Avengers: Doomsday was shared online by a former Marvel Studios artist.

The artwork was posted by Andy Park, the former director of Marvel Studios’ Visual Development department, who worked with the studio for 16 years before leaving earlier this year. The image gives fans the first official look at Doctor Doom’s mask design, along with several other characters who are expected to appear in the upcoming Marvel crossover.

Park shared the artwork on X on July 11, explaining that the image represented his final major project with Marvel Studios.

“AVENGERS: DOOMSDAY – the final full film I had the honor of leading as Director of Visual Development at Marvel Studios,” Park wrote. “This illustration commemorates that journey & reveals the characters & their looks for the first time. #AvengersDoomsday.”

The biggest reveal from the artwork is Robert Downey Jr.’s Doctor Doom appearance. After years of playing Tony Stark, Downey is returning to the Marvel universe in a completely different role, taking on one of the most famous villains in Marvel history.

While Marvel has kept much of Doom’s design hidden, the new concept art gives fans an early idea of what the character’s armor and mask could look like in the film. The image has quickly spread online, with fans analyzing every detail of Doom’s new appearance.

The artwork also includes the first promotional looks at several returning X-Men characters. Alan Cumming’s Nightcrawler, Kelsey Grammer’s Beast, and Rebecca Romijn’s Mystique can all be seen in the image, marking another major connection between Marvel Studios and the previous X-Men movies.

One of the most mysterious parts of the artwork is the appearance of Loki at the center of the image. Tom Hiddleston’s character has become one of the most important figures in Marvel’s multiverse storyline, and his inclusion has sparked plenty of fan theories about his role in Avengers: Doomsday.

The reveal is especially notable because Park recently left Marvel as part of company layoffs in April. After his departure, he reflected on his long career with the studio and the projects he helped create.

“Marvel Studios Visual Development: 2010–2026. End of an era,” Park wrote. “I was there at the start of a team that broke the mold. 16 years, 40+ films, and 15 films led as Director of Visual Development, I couldn’t be prouder of the history we made.”

Park’s work helped shape the look of many major Marvel projects, making his final contribution to Avengers: Doomsday a significant moment for fans following the franchise.

Directed by Joe and Anthony Russo, Avengers: Doomsday is expected to be one of Marvel’s biggest films ever, bringing together heroes from across the MCU, the X-Men universe, and the Fantastic Four.

The movie features a huge cast that includes Chris Evans, Chris Hemsworth, Pedro Pascal, Paul Rudd, Anthony Mackie, Florence Pugh, Vanessa Kirby, Channing Tatum, Ian McKellen, James Marsden, Patrick Stewart, and many more.

With Doctor Doom finally stepping into the spotlight, Marvel appears ready to begin revealing more about the massive story ahead. The new concept art may only be the beginning of a much bigger marketing push leading into the film’s release.
