Laura Linney Reportedly Joins ‘Lanterns,’ Could She Be Playing Carol Ferris?

Laura Linney, known for her roles in Ozark and The Truman Show, is reportedly joining the cast of HBO’s upcoming DC series Lanterns. This news comes from entertainment journalist Jeff Sneider, who shared the information on his podcast, The Hot Mic.

Sneider mentioned that Linney’s role hasn’t been officially announced yet, but there’s speculation she might be playing Carol Ferris. Ferris is a significant character in the Green Lantern comics, known as Hal Jordan’s love interest and later as the superhero Star Sapphire.

The Lanterns series is set to focus on Green Lanterns Hal Jordan and John Stewart as they investigate a murder on Earth. The show is described as having a grounded, detective-style approach, drawing inspiration from series like True Detective.

The cast already includes Kyle Chandler as Hal Jordan, Aaron Pierre as John Stewart, Kelly Macdonald as Sheriff Kerry, and Nathan Fillion as Guy Gardner. The series is being developed by showrunner Chris Mundy, with executive producers James Gunn and Peter Safran.

Filming for Lanterns began in Los Angeles in February 2025 and is expected to continue until July. The series is scheduled to premiere on HBO in early 2026 and will consist of eight episodes.

While Linney’s involvement hasn’t been officially confirmed by HBO or DC Studios, her addition would bring significant talent to the series. Fans are eagerly awaiting more details about her role and the series as a whole.
