Mummies have often been an inspiration for horror filmmakers and we have seen numerous films, both live-action and animated, where a revived mummy is a major villain in the movie. Some of these films were more, others were less successful, but the trope is nevertheless popular.

In light of that, you probably know that 2026 will see a new mummy-centered movie, titled The Mummy, which will be directed by Lee Cronin, known for his contributions to the Evil Dead franchise. And while the movie is still a big enigma, the main actor has just been confirmed.

As stated, Jack Reynor has been officially cast in the movie in an undisclosed role. The young Irish actor has some interesting projects attached to his name and The Mummy might be an interesting challenge for him. Sadly, we don’t have any details about the role as of the time of writing, but it seems that he will not be the titular mummy.

Atomic Monster/Blumhouse is producing the film for New Line Cinema, with Cronin’s Doppelgängers banner joining in.

The movie is set to start shooting in Ireland and Spain very soon, and it is officially scheduled for a April 17, 2026 release. Until then, be sure to keep following us for more updates.
