Lera Abova Shares New ‘One Piece’ Season 3 Set Photo in a First Look Behind the Scenes
‘One Piece‘ Season 3 is officially in the can, and one of its newest series regulars is already sending the fandom into excited speculation mode. Lera Abova, who plays the enigmatic Miss All Sunday in the Netflix live-action adaptation, marked the end of production with an Instagram post that read “Goodbye for now, my ultimate ride or die @onepiecenetflix here’s to another epic season finale.”
Cameras officially began rolling on November 24, 2025, with the production wrapping on June 30, 2026, totaling over 200 shooting days in Cape Town, South Africa. That makes it one of the longest continuous shoots Netflix has mounted for any of its original series, a reflection of just how much story the Alabasta arc demands.
Abova was promoted to series regular for this third installment, alongside Joe Manganiello as Sir Crocodile and Mikaela Hoover as Tony Tony Chopper, both of whom were similarly elevated from their recurring status in Season 2. The promotions signal how central the Baroque Works storyline will be to the season’s emotional core, with Abova’s Miss All Sunday functioning as one of the arc’s most compelling and morally complex figures.
The season, subtitled “The Battle of Alabasta,” was produced using three separate filming units running simultaneously, two handling drama and large-scale set pieces in parallel and a third dedicated entirely to stunt work, with each episode carrying an estimated budget of around $18 million. That kind of investment reflects just how high the bar has been set for this chapter of the Straw Hats’ journey.

The new season’s story follows Luffy and his crew as they help Princess Vivi fight a civil war in her homeland of Alabasta, instigated by Sir Crocodile and his organization Baroque Works. Joining the returning cast are significant new additions, with Xolo Maridueña from ‘Cobra Kai’ playing Portgas D. Ace and Tony Award winner Cole Escola playing the fan-beloved theatrical assassin Bon Clay.
‘One Piece’ Season 2 debuted on March 10, 2026, shooting to number one worldwide with nearly 17 million views in its first week and ultimately spending five weeks in the global top 10, accumulating 320.7 million viewing hours. That kind of performance effectively guarantees that Season 3 will arrive under enormous anticipation from a global audience that has fully bought into this live-action world.
Season 3 does not yet have a confirmed release date, though based on the timelines of the first two seasons, a Spring 2027 arrival appears most likely. For now, Abova’s heartfelt goodbye post is the clearest sign yet that something genuinely significant was made in that Cape Town production, and the wait is going to be a long one.
