Livvy Dunne and Jessica Belkin Turn Heads Behind the Scenes of ‘Baywatch’ Reboot in Sultry On-Set Moments
The Baywatch reboot has officially moved into production with a new cast and updated creative team, bringing fresh attention to the long-running lifeguard franchise.
The series is being developed by FremantleMedia International in partnership with Fox Entertainment, with Lara Olsen serving as writer and showrunner. The show has already been given a 12-episode order and is expected to air during the 2026–27 television season.
The reboot has been in development for several years. Early reports in 2018 first suggested that Fremantle was exploring ways to bring the franchise back. By 2023, development talks had begun with multiple streaming platforms and broadcasters. In 2024, Fox officially joined the project and committed to a full reboot series, signaling a more serious push toward production.
By 2025, the project received a formal series order, and filming preparations began soon after. The production also benefited from a $21.1 million tax credit through California’s Film & Television Tax Credit Program, which helped support the scale of the shoot and its location-based filming plans.
Casting announcements over the following months revealed a mix of returning actors and new faces. Stephen Amell was cast as an adult Hobie Buchannon, now following in his father’s footsteps as captain of the Baywatch team. David Chokachi also returned to reprise his earlier role as Cody Madison, reconnecting the reboot to the original series.
Additional casting expanded the ensemble with both established actors and rising names. Jessica Belkin joined the main cast, along with Thaddeus LaGrone, Hassie Harrison, Brooks Nader, Noah Beck, and Shay Mitchell. The production also confirmed returning franchise presence with Erika Eleniak reprising her role as Shauni McClain. Later announcements added Mary McDonnell, Michael Bergin, and Kelly Packard in recurring roles.
Among the newer cast members, Livvy Dunne joined in a recurring role as a junior lifeguard. Behind-the-scenes material from the set has drawn attention to Dunne and Jessica Belkin, who were seen filming together during early production stages. Both were photographed wearing bright red one-piece swimsuits designed in the classic lifeguard style associated with the franchise.
Their outfits featured thin spaghetti straps, scoop-neck designs, and high-cut legs. Each swimsuit also included a circular lifeguard-style patch placed on the lower hip area, echoing the traditional visual identity of earlier versions of the series. The design choice is consistent with the reboot’s effort to balance nostalgia with updated styling for a modern audience.
Production sources describe the reboot as a continuation of the original show’s world, but with a new generation of lifeguards and expanded storylines. The presence of returning characters alongside new recruits suggests a mix of legacy storytelling and fresh character development.
No official quotes from the cast or production team were released about the behind-the-scenes filming at this stage. However, the early images and casting decisions have already generated strong interest in how the reboot will balance its original identity with its updated direction.
The Baywatch reboot is now moving through active production as it prepares for its 2026–27 release window on Fox.
