Loki Television Show

Loki, one of the most well-liked and respected characters the MCU has ever produced will receive his own spin-off television show. The show will premiere on the upcoming Disney Plus streaming service and will launch at the same time as Scarlet Witch. To see the show be a success, Marvel has brought in Rick and Morty writer Michael Waldon. Waldon will be responsible for writing the pilot, acting as the shows creator, and will executive produce the series.

This is good news.

The show, which has largely remained a mystery has left fans wondering exactly how the God of Mischief will appear. Remember, in the beginning of Avengers Infinity War Loki was unceremoniously killed off by Thanos. News has surfaced that the show will follow a timeline before that of the MCU. More specifically, the show will see the loved character sporadically appear throughout human history offering the sort of advice and influence that only he could.

For fans of Loki, this may seem a little underwhelming. The character is completely capable of traveling through the Nine Realms and causing mischief in each. To have him appear only on Earth is kind of a let down. We must remember, however, that this is only a television show. As such, it does not have the financial backing that a movie does. The Nine Realms would need financial backing.

Small screen budget

Budget aside, the Loki series should be entertaining. Tom Hiddleston, the actor who has played him for years, is considered one of the best actors in the MCU. The fact that the show focuses on him is something to be excited about. It could, for arguments sake, focus on other dead characters and be completely not worth watching. I look to you Janet Van Dyne and Hank Pym.

Even if the series turns out to be a dud, we can all rest easy that Infinity War was not the last time we saw Tom Hiddleston as Loki.

Cheers,

Joel
