‘Lupin’ Part 4: Netflix Confirms Release Date With a New Trailer, New Plot Details, and Full Cast List

Few non-English-language series have managed to break through the way ‘Lupin‘ has, turning Omar Sy’s gentleman thief into a genuine global phenomenon since the show’s 2021 debut. Inspired by Maurice Leblanc’s classic Arsène Lupin character, the Paris-set series built its reputation on elaborate heists, sharp disguises, and a hero who always seems to stay several steps ahead of everyone chasing him.

Part 3 left that momentum on a cliffhanger unlike anything the show had done before. After stealing the Black Pearl, earning the public’s support, faking his own death, and saving his estranged mother’s life, Assane Diop realized the only way to guarantee safety for his wife, son, mother, and best friend was to sacrifice his own freedom entirely, turning himself in to police and ending the season behind bars.

Netflix has now confirmed exactly when fans will finally get answers. ‘Lupin’ Part 4 premieres globally on October 23, marking the show’s longest gap yet between installments, arriving roughly three years after Part 3 first debuted. The new season expands to eight episodes, making it the most extensive chapter of the series so far.

According to Netflix, the new season picks up four years after Assane’s imprisonment, with him finally ready to start a new life alongside his family after serving his sentence. That plan gets upended almost immediately, though, once a mysterious announcement signed by Lupin claims responsibility for a wave of simultaneous museum heists, forcing Assane back into action to clear his name and confront whoever is impersonating him.

Omar Sy leads the returning cast once again as Assane Diop, joined by familiar faces including Ludivine Sagnier as Claire, Antoine Gouy as Benjamin, Soufiane Guerrab as Youssef, and Shirine Boutella as Sofia. New cast additions Théo Christine and Laïka Blanc-Francard round out the expanded ensemble for this chapter.

Sy has spoken about what keeps drawing him back to the role after all these years. In comments shared with Netflix’s Tudum, the actor described Lupin as an extraordinary plaything, saying he finds genuine joy in returning to the character every time a new part comes together.

Behind the camera, the series remains under the creative direction of George Kay, working alongside François Uzan, with Marie Roussin, Florent Meyer, and Tigran Rosine also contributing to the writing team for the new season. Sy and Louis Leterrier continue serving as showrunners, with production handled by Gaumont in collaboration with Carrousel Studios. Filming for Part 4 got underway in Paris back in May, wrapping by early fall of last year ahead of the show’s extended post-production process.

With a psychological, higher-stakes tone reportedly shaping much of the new season, Part 4 looks set to dig into lingering questions left open since Assane’s imprisonment, including the fate of his longtime rival Hubert Pellegrini and what exactly happened to those closest to him during his time behind bars. Given how much longer this wait has been compared to previous gaps between seasons, expectations for Part 4 to deliver a genuinely satisfying continuation are running especially high among longtime fans.

For a series that’s spent years building one of Netflix’s most successful non-English-language track records, ‘Lupin’ Part 4 arrives with plenty riding on it, both in terms of resolving Assane’s current predicament and proving the show can sustain its momentum after its longest hiatus yet. Earlier parts of the series ran shorter, with the first two installments consisting of five episodes each and Part 3 featuring seven, making this eight-episode chapter the most ambitious structure the show has attempted to date.
