Mario Kart World’s Dirty Cow Butt Sparks Reactions from Fans and a Real Farmer

Players of Mario Kart World have been having a lot of fun with the game’s new cow character, but one part caught their attention: the cow’s dirty rear end. This detail didn’t sit well with some fans, especially in Japan, where people took to X to share their thoughts.

One player posted a photo of the cow’s backside, saying in Japanese, “Dirty butt!!!!!!” While some people felt the cow was being unfairly criticized, many agreed that yes, the cow’s butt does look dirty.

A real-life farmer from Japan, named Renta, joined the conversation with an interesting take. Renta is a rice farmer and wrote on X, “The strangest thing about this game is that the dirtiness of the cow’s butts has been recreated with incredible realism.”

Renta explained that cows’ backsides do often get dirty, but farmers try hard to keep their animals clean by taking care of them and keeping the barn floors clean.

The cow has become a popular and memorable part of Mario Kart World, which is Nintendo’s new racing game on the Switch 2. Even though some players feel the game’s open world and tracks could use more polish, the cow’s dirty butt has been a funny and shared moment online. It’s common now to see races with all 24 players choosing to play as cows.

This is a big change from previous Mario Kart games, like Mario Kart 8, which had many familiar characters from other Nintendo games. But a cow has never been a playable racer before. Mario Kart World also includes other surprising things, like Toad driving a police car in free roam mode.
