Marvel’s next two Avengers movies are slowly moving closer to production, and new casting details for Avengers: Secret Wars are now starting to appear online.

According to AllCasting.com, Marvel Studios is currently looking for extras to fill several different background roles connected to the massive crossover film.

The reported casting descriptions include military personnel, civilians, fighters, survivors, scientists, and “enhanced beings.” While these are not major character reveals, the variety of roles has already sparked speculation among fans about the scale and setting of the movie.

The inclusion of survivors and military roles has led some viewers to believe the film could feature large-scale destruction or multiversal conflict, which would match the tone fans expect from Secret Wars. Meanwhile, the mention of “enhanced beings” suggests the movie may include powered individuals beyond the core Avengers roster.

Marvel Studios first announced Avengers: Secret Wars during San Diego Comic-Con in 2022 as part of the conclusion to the MCU’s Multiverse Saga. The project has gone through several major changes since then.

Originally, Marvel planned to move forward with Avengers: The Kang Dynasty before shifting direction following legal issues involving actor Jonathan Majors, who had been set to continue as Kang the Conqueror. Over time, the studio reworked its plans for the Avengers storyline.

In July 2024, Marvel officially confirmed the return of Anthony and Joe Russo as directors for both Avengers: Doomsday and Avengers: Secret Wars. Stephen McFeely also returned as co-writer alongside Michael Waldron. One of the biggest announcements was Robert Downey Jr.’s return to the MCU, this time playing Doctor Doom instead of Tony Stark.

Avengers: Doomsday is expected to bring together multiple Marvel teams, including the Avengers, Wakandans, Fantastic Four, New Avengers, and X-Men characters as they face Doctor Doom. Many major MCU actors are expected to appear across both films, including Pedro Pascal, Anthony Mackie, Vanessa Kirby, Letitia Wright, Simu Liu, Joseph Quinn, and Ebon Moss-Bachrach.

Production for Doomsday reportedly took place from April to September 2025 at Pinewood Studios in England. Filming for Secret Wars is currently scheduled to begin in mid-2026 and is expected to continue for roughly six months.

Marvel has not officially commented on the reported extra casting calls, but the new details continue to build anticipation around what is expected to be one of the studio’s biggest crossover events ever made.

Avengers: Doomsday is currently scheduled for release on December 18, while Avengers: Secret Wars is planned to hit theaters on December 17, 2027.
