Marvel Just Teased The One Hero Powerful Enough To Stop Doctor Doom In ‘Avengers: Doomsday’
Marvel is giving fans a closer look at what to expect from “Avengers: Doomsday” through a new wave of collectibles. The company has teamed up with Hasbro to reveal the Marvel Legends Series figures inspired by the upcoming movie, and the lineup may offer some clues about the heroes and villains appearing in the film.
The new collection was revealed around the end of San Diego Comic-Con, with PEOPLE getting an exclusive first look at the figures. The set includes characters from across the Marvel Universe, bringing together members of the Avengers, Fantastic Four, X-Men, and some of the biggest villains connected to the story.
Each figure stands around six inches tall and comes with a premium design featuring multiple points of movement. Beyond just being collectibles, the figures also show off new costumes that match the versions of the characters expected to appear in “Avengers: Doomsday.”
One of the biggest figures in the lineup is Doctor Doom, played by Robert Downey Jr. in the upcoming film. His inclusion continues Marvel’s focus on Doom as one of the most important characters heading into the next Avengers movie.
The collection also gives fans a new look at Sam Wilson’s Captain America. Following the events of “Captain America: Brave New World,” Anthony Mackie’s hero returns with his own figure, complete with Captain America’s famous shield and backpack.
Thor is also joining the lineup with a figure that includes both of his major weapons, Mjolnir and Stormbreaker. Shang-Chi is another major addition, and his figure comes with several accessories, including alternate hands and effects representing his powerful Ten Rings abilities.
According to Hasbro and Marvel’s official release, Shang-Chi “may be the only hero powerful enough to stop the threat the Avengers face.” That detail has already sparked fan theories about what role the character could play when the heroes face Doctor Doom.
The Fantastic Four are also heavily represented in the collection. Invisible Woman and Human Torch come together in one set, featuring accessories that highlight their powers, including a force shield for Sue Storm and flame effects for Johnny Storm.
Mister Fantastic appears alongside H.E.R.B.I.E., the famous robot companion from the Fantastic Four comics. His figure includes different hand options and an alternate head, while The Thing is sold separately with extra accessories, including a different bearded version of the character.
The X-Men side of the collection brings back some familiar faces. Cyclops, Gambit, Magneto, and Doctor Doom complete the final wave of figures. Cyclops includes an alternate visor and an optic blast accessory, while Gambit comes with his signature bo staff and charged playing card effects.
Magneto and Doctor Doom each receive their own figures with alternate hands, reflecting their importance as powerful figures in the upcoming movie.
The collection gives fans another way to examine the possible costumes and designs Marvel has created for “Avengers: Doomsday.” While the toys do not reveal the full story, they have become an important source of clues for fans trying to predict what will happen when these different superhero teams finally come together.
