Marvel Moving on With a New Actor for the Role of Kang, Name To Be Announced Soon According to Reports
Following the release of ‘Ant-Man and the Wasp: Qunatumania’ the superhero media world was shaken by allegations brought to light against Jonathan Majors, introduced in ‘Loki’ Season 1 as Victor Timely and in ‘Quantumania’ as Kang the Conqueror, the next big villain for the Multiversal Saga.
Jonathan Majors’ career has been in somewhat of a freefall ever since he was arrested in March 2023 after an alleged assault of a woman he knew and was rumored to be his girlfriend. He was laid off from several projects, his manager and PR team quit, and several commercials featuring the actor were pulled.
Then, last year 9 months after the incident occurred, the guilty verdict came and Majors was sentenced to probation. Almost immediately Kang was fired from Disney and fans got the confirmation that he won’t be proceeding as Kang, the role he played in both seasons of ‘Loki’ and ‘Ant-Man’ movie.
Following his firing ‘Avengers: The Kang Dynasty’ was internally re-titled to ‘Avengers 5’ and various rumors started spreading that the studio was most likely looking for a replacement villain and dropping the current story, it’s only later that possible substitutes were named.
Now according to Daniel Richtman, insider and scooper, the studio decided to move forward with Kang as the main villain and the announcements of new Kang will come in the next couple of months.
The story of ‘Kang Dynasty’ will explore the multiversal themes while staying grounded, which is quite a significant change when compared to the original plans for the film.
As far as the replacements go, several actors have been put in the forefront as most likely to be cast as Kang among them John David Washington and Colman Domingo.
