Jonathan Majors debuted in the MCU as Victor Timely back in 2021, and then as Kang the Conqueror in ‘Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania’ in 2023 in what was the first movie of Phase 5, also known as the beginning of the Multiverse Saga. ‘Quantumania’ wasn’t exactly successful, adding insult to injury, soon after the release of the blockbuster movie, the actor behind the villain who was supposed to mark the next few phases of the MCU was arrested.

According to the charges, Majors allegedly struck the alleged victim ‘about the face with an open hand, causing substantial pain and a laceration behind her ear.’ He also allegedly grabbed her hand and neck, causing bruising on the neck and a broken finger. And while his lawyers quickly provided evidence that such a thing never took place, the case was far from over, and Majors was eventually found guilty and fired by Disney.

There have been rumors of recasting, rumors that Doom will replace Kang as the next big villain, and rumors of ‘Kang Dynasty’ being scrapped altogether. Most recently, ‘Avengers: Kang Dynasty’ was reportedly under a new title the movie simply being referred to as ‘Avengers 5.’ Now we don’t have a clear confirmation on whether Marvel Studios will continue with Kang as the main villain or whether they will move the MCU in a different direction entirely, but that doesn’t keep the fans and scoopers from speculation. For a while now, Colman Domingo was pretty high up when it came to potential replacements for Jonathan Majors, and Colman himself addressed the rumors in his talk with Comicbook.com.

It’s funny how people are online talking about this. And the moment it started happening, literally, I think I was on my couch. And I was like, ‘What rumor? Who? Where’s this coming from?’ I just didn’t think about it. The next day I woke up, it’s everywhere.

Colman also revealed that at this moment, he has no idea whether the rumors are true or not because that’s not have the process with his agents goes:

You know, listen. My team has had conversations with Marvel about some aspect of the MCU for years. Do I know this to be true or not? I actually don’t know. I feel like my team doesn’t bring me something unless it’s real. So I don’t know. I could be in conversation, but I’m not sure. I would welcome a conversation around it.

The Oscar nominee was quick to praise the community however, he is flattered that his name is being mentioned in such a positive context:

The fans are passionate. Somehow my name is out there in the world [and] I like the idea of just having your name called and someone speaking lovingly and kindly about something is a beautiful thing.

Even if Domingo doesn’t get the part of Kang the Conqueror, his career is hardly in the decline. Even though the actor began his career with roles in ‘Law & Order’ series and ‘The Big Gay Sketch Show,’ before gaining prominence as Victor Strand in ‘Fear the Walking Dead.’ He also won a Primetime Emmy for his role in ‘Euphoria’ in 2022. His film work includes roles in ‘Lincoln,’ ‘Selma,’ ‘If Beale Street Could Talk,’ and ‘Ma Rainey’s Black Bottom.’ He was nominated for an Independent Spirit Award for his role in ‘Zola’ and received an Academy Award nomination for playing Bayard Rustin in ‘Rustin.’
