Marvel Studios has several projects in the making bound to be released over the course of the next few years. Despite Iger’s recent comments that the studio should focus on quality over quantity and ‘Deadpool & Wolverine’ being the only movie to release in 2024, they see no signs of stopping.

Now that the strike has cleared up, there are some projects that have been stuck in development hell for quite some time now, and some projects that need to be rushed in order for the MCU timeline to make sense without too many edits. It’s time for these projects to move on with the production.

One of these projects notable to be in development for years at this point is certainly Don Cheadle’s ‘Armor Wars.’ ‘Armor Wars’ was imagined to be a movie based on the comic storyline of the same name, and it was supposed to be a sequel to ‘Secret Invasion’ (released last year) and ‘Ironheart’ (unknown release date at the moment). Back in 2011, Don Cheadle confirmed that a War Machine film was in development, and Joe Rober Cole had been hired to write it. Now according to NexusPoint News, the project is bound to start filming in January 2025 in the United Kingdom and Atlanta.

‘Avengers 5’ is also one project that got surprisingly difficult developments in the last few months due to the mere fact that Majors has been found guilty of third-degree assault and thus fired by the Studio. Subsequent reports testified that they couldn’t really figure out the direction of the movie now that Kang, as the main villain was out of the picture. Naturally, it was either to replace Kang as the villain or recast him, and it seems they figured it out as the production will be moving to the United Kingdom in January 2025 as well.

Last but not least is ‘Shang-Chi 2.’ The first movie was a surprise success for the studio. By December 2021, development had started on a sequel to ‘Shang-Chi’ with director and writer Cretton and star Liu expected to return. Liu expressed interest in exploring his character’s journey with the Ten Rings and his place in the MCU. However, by July 2023, Liu was uncertain about the sequel’s production timeline, mentioning it was slated for release after ‘Avengers: The Kang Dynasty,’ which had been postponed to 2026 from 2025 and changed name in the meantime. Now the latest reports indicate that the project is bound to begin production in March 2025, in the United Kingdom as well.
