Marvel’s First ‘Wonder Man’ Trailer Addresses Superhero Fatigue Head-On
Marvel Studios has released the first trailer for Wonder Man, the upcoming Disney+ series that will premiere in January 2026.
The show introduces Simon Williams, played by Yahya Abdul-Mateen II, a stuntman and actor who gains superpowers while navigating a world full of superheroes.
Created by Destin Daniel Cretton and Andrew Guest, Wonder Man is the 17th television series in the Marvel Cinematic Universe.
Guest serves as showrunner, while Cretton directs episodes along with Stella Meghie and James Ponsoldt. The series is also produced by Family Owned and Onyx Collective, with Marvel Studios overseeing production under its Marvel Television label.
The cast includes Abdul-Mateen as Simon Williams, Ben Kingsley returning as Trevor Slattery from Iron Man 3 and Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings, as well as Demetrius Grosse, Ed Harris, and Arian Moayed.
Production began in Los Angeles in April 2023 but was paused in May due to the Writers Guild of America strike. Filming resumed in January 2024 and wrapped by April. Marvel officially announced the series in October 2024. Wonder Man will consist of eight episodes and is part of Phase Six of the MCU, released under the “Marvel Spotlight” banner, which focuses on character-driven stories.
The newly released trailer gives fans their first real look at the series. Interestingly, it is presented as an in-universe promo and directly references the idea of superhero fatigue. Instead of ignoring the topic, the show acknowledges it, blending humor with commentary on fame, heroism, and life in a world already crowded with superheroes.
